I recently sent my 2001 SS sub date to a AD for some minor cosmetic part replacements. These parts were showing wear and I wanted to get brand new parts to make my SS sub look brand new again. I had them send my watch to Rolex USA for the repairs. On the list of replacements was a new clasp,bezel insert,and crown. I also had them overhaul the watch which included a polish,oiling, and new seals on the triplock.

You ask, "How much did this cost?" Well I was a little shocked myself when the bill was $1200 US dollars! Well, at least I'll have a brand new watch again and may try and sell it so I can get a sub C.

Ouch! Just curious, but how could you need the bezel insert and clasp after only 10 years?

Ouch! My sub was recently fully serviced, and re-furbished, at my local AD. It came back looking brand new, for the very reasonable cost of £300. It only took three weeks, as well!

Standard Sub service should be $550 at RSC NYC, and that includes a new insert and polishing. Not sure about the other parts, such as the clasp, but $1200 sounds very high for all that. However, I too was shocked when I was told that a replacement Sub bracelet (93150, 580 end pieces) is about $1,100 there, so I guess nothing should surprise us any more about Rolex service prices.

Back in 2005 I had both of my explorer II 1655's serviced & renovated(parts replaced etc.) @ RSC SFO & it was US$800. each.
Well worth it, they did a wonderful job.

You should have checked with Bob Ridley. I bet he could have done a fantastic job for less money. I am getting more parts replaced than that from him on a 1981 sub right now and it is costing me $1,100.

Ok, I should have explained that I have a bit of OCD when it comes to scratches or any other imperfections on my watch. That being said, rounding off, it was $575 for the overhaul,$350 for a new clasp,$90 for a new bezel insert and $100 for a new crown. Plus $60 for shipping.

Sounds about right for what you asked for...

You know they don't do any of that work, or charge anything, until they get your approval for the parts and price..........

If your next service is in 10 years, then it works out to just $120 per year to enjoy a refurbished, looks-as-good-as-new watch that'll give you peace of mind as well as pleasure every time you glance at the time.

To me, that's a decent deal.
