Icon2 Problems, problems, problems....

Local AD decided to start a one time offer on ALL brands: no discount (this means retail), but 18 monthly payments. No questions asked, just 18 payments. Rolex, Cartier, Breguet, Bulgari, Tag..... offer valid for 2 days only.

What are you thinking about? The new TT GMT II?

Hmmm - lets see, 8,925.00/18 = 496 per month.

If it worked for me i'd say go for it!

Will he let you place orders for something not in stock? Maybe the new SS GMT II or SS Daytona?

HO! How about the new Milgauss - I dig it!

18 payments with no interest? zero percent sounds nice. Which watch are you looking at?

They still do not have the newest from Basel, but I did the same calculations. Toys (er, watches) of 6K come to RIDICULOUS monthly payments. Even 9 grand divided by 18 is not bad at all!!!

No orders, just stock.

Yes, no interest. None, zip, zero, nada! I was not looking BUT, all of a sudden, that GMT looks nice ($282 a month), that YG datejust on strap is not bad at $650/mo; and my 'significant other' says: even that Seatimer (Cartier Pasha) at $300/mo looks great.

It's midnight here and I can't sleep! I am getting list prices and dividing them by 18....don't know what to do....

My AD (One of them) is a chain and does 18 months with no interest for me on whatever I purchase at any time. The other (also a national chain) does 12 months no interest on whatever at any time.

I think yu are definitely going to get one from the way you are talking.

Why not go for the GMT II you have been talking about. Then you can get all the different bezel inserts and switch around as you please - that would be pretty sweet!! Go for it!!

Never buy an item on credit when it will lose 30 to 40

percent of its value the moment you walk out the door. In fact, never buy anything on credit that you can't deduct from you taxes. In fact, avoid buying anything on credit. The US is about to enter a very ugly recession, so I'd hang onto your cash...it will buy a lot more in 6 to 12 months.

I live in Ohio and there used to be a Rolex dealer in New Orleans that offered a deal like that plus you paid no tax out of state. I agonized over it for a long time. I visited the store then later. Big dealer. I probably should have done it then. Hindsight.

Well that is a discount of sorts. The money you spend today is worth more than the same amount in 18 months due to inflation. Since you are spending 18 equal payments, the first is worth more than the second, which is worth more than the third and so on.....

So if its a $5,000 watch and you are paying $278 per month, then using a Pesent Value calc of 2.5% inflation per year, you are only actually paying $4,910 in todays money. (note: could not be bothered to work this out by hand so I used Excel's PV function, feel free to let me know if I calc'd wrong).

What's your reasoning for this (the recession)? The housing market is upside down, but the stock market and business is increasing month over month and year over year. If Warren Buffet says that everything is going to be peachy for a while (except the housing market, which he said is currently "sick") then what's the ground for recession?

It's interest free. I'll buy on credit all day everyday if it is free. I'd rather have my money working for me during that time.

A recession with 4.4% unemployment? LOL

As long as you get the EXACT watch that you would have paid cash for and that discount of 10-20% was NOT possible then the 0% deal is sweet.
