What do you guys think about this watch? it was purchased from an estate sale, no box or paper.

Well, it is a $7000 question. There is nothing to prove that it is and if it's not then you paid fortune for something that made in China.

No of course, I wouldn't be touching it. Not with that description and story telling. But did think the picture looked ok. Could also be a genuine pic, stolen or not exist....

That's what I thought -- if this is really from an estate sale, the original owner didn't have it for very long. In which case ... the box and papers disappeared already?

Nothing in the pictures screams "blatant fake" (I would like to see a shot of the cyclops without the minute hand in it), but the story smells bad.

Reading from the description, the seller basically tell you that this item is not authentic, not sure atleast. So buy it at your own risk.

That is what he wants us to believe ; The clasp and rehaut engraving seem wrong to me .

If its the watch in the pic, it looks pretty good to me but I am far from an expert. Even part of the protective sticker remains on the clasp (in one of the other pics)

You have an US Ebay account . Try and ask for some more pictures . One with the serial visible . A better one with clasp scroll work . We can take it from there , no ?

It's not blatantly fake as far as I'm concerned. There are legitimate sales of a lot of watches without a box and papers. In fact, my parents buy watches all the time and have never kept the boxes.

I also emailed him for at least partial serial number but haven't heard back. I would ask for a face to face transaction if I decided to bid.

I wouldn't do face to face on this one. I don't want to waste my time. The seller description already tell the story. He could have an authorized Rolex dealer in the area look at it but chose not to and keep repeating doesn't know anything about Rolex.

If this guy was from the UK I'd definitely be asking for a face to face sale? Even if it sells, I'd be worried about that first service!

There are a couple of indications that bother me :
The description is ambiguous for someone that is obviously familiar with the internet and Ebay in particular .
He adds some details like the blue lume , sweeping movement etc that proves that he did do some research about the watch . In doing so he would also have found the commercial value of such authentic and in perfect condition SubC .
Very good pictures , but omits the crucial details .

It looks good but the story stinks. This guy is an expert in militaria and he doesn't know how to research a watch?

Come on! He's hiding something.

But he is quick to state that bezel turns left "as it should".

And five pictures but not one with the date cyclops visible (wich is the most obvious tell on fake watches).

FAKE.

Ok, I email and asked for the serial number, this is his replied:

"The numbers are M520117 which are etched into the rehaul (6 o'clock position). I have been getting a lot of questions on this, thank you for the information about not having to remove the band.

Take Care,"

Does anyone know Sub C has the serial started with "M"?

As far as I know, Sub c serial start with "V", "G", or Random. The seller replied to my email and gave me "M520117", I strongly believe that this is FAKE.

The problem is that there are some M serials 116610LN reported . Extremely rare .
Still , given he has no box and papers , estate sale and the ambiguous description my money would be on fake or dodgy listing .

i was just reading another thread about the influx of fakes and it makes reference to the hands on a real rolex being slightly curved. I think this could be a tell tale sign on this one. i was convinced at first.

I see the listing is already removed, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

I am far from an expert, especially compared to some of the brilliant detectives on this forum, but I am a sub-c owner. Looked at the photograph and compared it to mine, and couldn't help but notice that the hour hand looks much thicker on the seller's watch.

I could be wrong, but would love to hear some thoughts from other sub-c owners.

The pearl on the bezel looks strange to me.

I would guess a high-end fake. But it's still
