Rolex Service Centre Toronto - Reviews?

I recently took my Rolex to the Toronto Centre for a service estimate but now feel very insecure due any an incident that occurred. Id appreciate if anyone can tell me if they had any good / bad experience there. I'm very worried and feel that I have been cheated. Can they be trusted?

Shall I asume you speak of Royal De Versia, Or La Deference? They are from what I know, both in the GTA am I right?

I went to the Main Rolex Centre on St. Clair's Ave. I believe that's the only Service Centre in Toronto.

I`m thinking the OP is talking about RSC Toronto!??

Everything I've heard about their service and work has been positive......What's your issue??

I have this 1965 Oyster Perpetual that is very dear to me and I've a lot of emotional attachment to it. They took the watch for an estimate assessment and gave the watch back after about 45 min. I told them I'll think about it and will come back. When I opened the watch I felt something loose inside, the centre was close at that time so next morning I called them, the lady on the phone said it cant be anything but just to assure I can bring the watch. I took my time off from work and went straight, the lady called the manager who had a look at the watch and said there's nothing wrong! when I insisted he took the watch, came back and said yes sorry you were right the technician forgoto to tighten the screws???? I was stunned that how is that possible? how can the techician at Rolex can be so careless??? I shook the again and still felt something loose. He said oh that may be gas kit. I said which gas kit, he said since your gas kit was old so sometimes we change it. I was not satisfied but didnt want any argument as I had to pick up my kids from school. Now im worried that is it possible that "this technican" might have done soemthing real bad like may be replacing my watch's parts or I dont know. I dont know what to do?

That's not good to hear or a normal occurrence at all....
No excuses on the technicians part for forgetting to tighten anything he may have adjusted whilst reviewing the watch!!!

The gasket, is just the rubber O ring that seats behind the case back and between the watch case to give it a waterproof seal..
I doubt other than that seal, anything else was replaced...

Sorry to hear about this, but can assure you if the watch was fully serviced, it would come back as new and problem free or they would have to correct it with no questions asked...Let's just hope it was a bad day on the technicians part and it doesn't happen again..

I have had 3 watches overhauled by the Toronto RSC, and all came back in superb mechanical and cosmetic condition.

I had my watch overhauled about 6-7 years ago by Toronto RSC. First time ever it was serviced, a 1970s Rolex with Oyster Band passed down from my dad. Thought what better place to get my dad's watch service than Rolex themselves - cost no object.

Disappointed with the workmanship - sloppy technician with shacky hands couldn't properly scribe the band link to match my oyster band lines. They also replaced the scratched glass, i think it was glass with plastic and the crown of course. I even complained to HQ, but got no reply back. Anyways, for the overhaul, parts needed (which was not really specified which parts) and $900 later, not worth it to me... over rated service. I still regret to this day having them touch my dad's watch. Had no idea what they really did since it was in great condition to begin with.

i am torn in going back again, since they say 5 years is normally best for regular maintenance. thanks

This is very concerning. As far as I am aware there is only one RSC in Canada, no? If they do not provide reliable service, what choice do we have for warranty repairs etc? This could be a deal breaker for me. I have not bought a new Rolex in a long time, but I have had thoughts of adding to the stable. I certainly will not be doing so if the Toronto RSC in Canada is suspect in any way.

More experiences please.

Use your gut when bringing in and seeing the techie yourself, pass the reception folks. I am sure not all techs at RSC is bad, like any service place, no one place is perfect. I taken pics, maybe it's just me over reacting, but i thought i should back up my statement. I may go back to RSC for a second chance, but i will watch them like a hawk now. oh... it wasn't $900 after looking at my invoice, it was $380 factory service, $160 additional parts, $85 crown, tube, crystal (which was plastic), refinish fix case, gaskets, springbars = 625 + 87.50 tax = $712.50. Seems worth it to me...

I have to admit, it looks great polished and all, but not 100% satisfied when i got it back. I was just wondering if some other master watch maker could have done the same if not better with the polish etc. No seemed to care after payment made, including Rolex HQ. Again, back in 2008 i think they (Toronto RSC) did an ok job with the polish after admiring it again. I can't comment what they did on the inside. Still looks new that's because haven't worn it much. Not sure if this is bad not to wear it for long peroids of time with parts needing to move or not.
