I'm a Red Sox fan living in L.A. but please don't tell anyone...
From the Las Angeles Times:
The Giants fan who was severely beaten at the end of the Dodgers home opener Thursday is a Santa Cruz paramedic and the father of two children. Bryan Stow, 42, hit his head on the pavement during the attack and is in a medically induced coma, family members told the Santa Cruz Sentinel. "He's not doing too well," brother-in-law David Collins told the paper. "He's still unconscious and they just decided to put him in a medically induced coma. They are hoping the brain swelling will go down, but it hasn't and they are talking about removing one of his frontal lobes." The Los Angeles Police Department released sketches of two suspects in the attack. "The man suffered a serious head injury during the assault after the game,'' said LAPD Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg, watch commander at the Northeast Station. Rosenberg said the victim was one of three Giants fans who were attacked in the parking lot by the two unidentified men wearing Dodgers clothing. The unprovoked attack occurred about 8:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 2 when two assailants approached three victims in Giants apparel. The two men attacked the three victims, kicking and punching them and shouting expletives about the Giants as they delivered the blows... __________________________________________________ ________________ I also posted this in the opening day thread but I'm so bothered by it that I think it deserves its own thread. |

I used to work at a sports bar (in high school) One night we had to call an ambulance because in our parking lot one fan smashed another over the head with a bottle and then stabbed him in the face with it. Its a game people! It's fun to support your team maybe even talk a little trash but in the end its still a game and one that you mr. drunk in a bar are not even playing
p.s. The Yankees still suck

Downright pathetic and I hate certain teams but not their fans.
You have to distinguish the difference. |

Not to defend those idiots, but some Giants fans go to Dodger stadium to start altercation.
Few years ago, a Dodger fan was shot and killed by a Giant fan in the parking lot. Basically, bad apples from both teams are to blame.

I'm sure it can go both ways but the reports say that this man who was so severly beaten would never have looked for trouble.

All the articles in this case indicate the attack was completely unprovoked. Even if someone is talking trash that doesn't give someone the right to beat them into a coma.

These things happen all the time In Europe with football ( soccer ) When in Paris I avoid going certain areas the day we have Marseille football club come to play against Paris St.Germain . Guaranteed several people ending up in hospital . There have been deaths .
The dutch teams are dangerous too . It used to be more the British teams causing the trouble but since the Heysel stadium drama in Brussels in the early 80's things are much better in the UK .

This isn't the first incident like this at Dodger Stadium, unfortunately.
As a Red Sox fan though, you should be ok as they are usually in town to play at Angel Stadium, lots of people wear their Red Sox or other visiting team gear there and I haven't heard of a serious incident. |
