Newbie Swede
Hello!
I'm one of the newbies on the forum, a 25 year old Swede. I recently finished uni and finally make enough money to get a first fine watch. I've been reading the forum for a week now and are trying to learn a lot about the watches in order to make sure my first buy is the right one. Any tips and tricks where to look for a nice Rolex with still a bit limited resources are very welcome. Glad to be here. //Viktor |

Lot's of info to search through here on the boards. I'd also recommend purchasing through this site from one of our trusted sellers. Enjoy the site, Rob.

Welcome to TRF ! If you can share a bit more about what models or features you like and a bit of what you do for work and fun, members here can give suggestions more easily. Since you said that resources are limited, I think you should consider a used Rolex. Beyond that I am unsure whether a more tool watch or dressy model would work better for you. A Used Submariner would fit in with the first if you like water sports, while a classic Datejust is about as perfect a versatile/dress watch as can be. |

Thanks for all the welcoming words! Nice to see some fellow countrymen here as well!
To further clarify what I've been looking for lately, it is more of a versatile/dress watch. I have, as CKLinLA also suggested, been looking into used datejusts, mainly the steel with white dial. I cant say that I got the hang of all the ref numbers still, but shortly I might =) But as I study all watches I also really enjoy the Submariners even though they are a bit more expensive and might have to come as a second watch in the future. I only have about $2000 at the moment, and know that in most cases it's a bit to little in order to det a good example. //Viktor |

Hello again! Thank you for your replies!
As I can't post in WTB I'll try and se if I could get any help here. I am now quite sure of what I am looking for, can't wait til I have it around my wrist: A 36 mm SS datejust with oyster band and a smooth bezel. With a silver dial and non roman numbers. Ref numbers are confusing, please fill me with info if you have. I have about $ 2000 to spend, maybe slightly more if I find a good specimen. I will also be working in the US for two months in a week from now so a sale within the states is better. As a question, I have been looking at ebay seller Beckertimes sales lately as he has a large number of watches of this kind for sale. I also only look at those with a genuine band not an aftermarket. Is there something I need to consider when buying an used watch? How important are the papers when it is time for service? I'm still new about this and am trying to learn for every day. Seems rolex is the trickiest brand to understand out there =) Thank you! /Viktor |

I think you need $5000 to start shopping Rolex, but $2000 can buy you nice a Omega etc.
