So it begins.... need strap recommendations... there are tons of choices out there i know. What are some expert's choices? What are Ammo straps? Any strap maker recommendations. I know this is a very subjective question, but I am sure just like everything else, there are "good" and "bad" choices. Expert advices from this forum have always helped me... so thanks in advance guys!

Another question i have is that, the OEM rubber strap from Panerai seem very soft. Does it get ripped or damaged easily? It seems like it would get brittle quick.

Golden brown OEM alligator with ecru contrast stitch and black semi-matte alligator with ecru contrast stitch...
I'm not a fan of aftermarket/ non- OEM straps...

Your head's going to spin Tom! There are tons of straps out there.

Ammo's are made from ammo pouches used in WWII. There are numerous to choose from - Swiss, French, German. Kevin Rogers (aka. Adeeos) is probably the front runner in terms of makers. There is also Micah, Rob Montana, Ted Su, etc... Good luck!!

My vote goes to KEV for an AMMO. He's the originator of these. I'm a fan of ABP as well for the more unique straps...

x2...I have had a couple of nice Heroics, but the were too thick, and had foating keepers- also made the watch look "cheap"...IMO. Mik, Bri- Please tell me more about these "Kev" straps you two like so much! Thanks!

Where are you guys getting you OEM straps from? I asked my AD to get me a XL over a year ago as the standard strap is a little tight (last hole) and he still doesn't have one. I have tried a couple of non OEM straps and I too don't like the way they make the watch look.

ABP paris straps.. when i was in france i had a couple beautiful straps made..

check out this elephant on my 279, altho a bit pricey, abp makes the best straps around on almost any exotic skin around.

and then theres the OEM panerai nato strap

then the OEM nu-buck

the OEM JV is always nice (on the 005)

but IMO ABP paris has the best straps.. OEM is always nice to have a couple, but if you really want a strap to treasure, then go with ABP and dream up any strap you want.. they deal with skins that many other strap makers don't

Hey man,

Mik got you the site above, but maybe I can provide some further details. Again, these guys invented the "AMMO." They're hand-made & stitched and have a fantastic vintage scent. You know a true AMMO when you smell it, obviously because they come from vintage military pouches used during WWII. This makes them historic and PAM appropriate. In all, I love the fit and the smell of a KEV.

I would either ring your AD and ask them to pull their finger out or ring another AD,ordered a Large strap from my AD and only waited 2 weeks.

Well then maybe its just my AD here in Milwaukee. Its good to here that other people are not having trouble getting them. Honestly I was starting to have second thoughts about Panerai. Maybe I'll try the AD in Chicago as its not that far to drive. You would think after buying three watches from them they would be a little better with customer service.

I have a Hirsch Liberty on my 112. there is a choice of colours and they are great quality and good value with a retail of around £30 GBP.

yep it does seem some ADs can tend to be poor on after sales service,it did take me a few phone calls to get them to order it but once ordered it was only a 2 week wait,try a Panerai boutique I thnk a member on here said the LA boutique was good with strap orders and they should ship it to you.

On the same topic is there anywhere you can go to see the OEM range? I've never had any success in finding somewhere with an online catalogue or similar so always end up just buying the best of the four or five my AD has in stock. It would surely be a no-brainer for Panerai to have an online facility for selecting and purchasing straps? Or am I missing something?

My AD had a strap cataloge to order from,I would think most ADs do,the problem those is that the pic and the strap may not 100% match,but that would be the same with any strap you order if you haven't already seen one.
