Thoughts on old blue face TT sub vs new blue ceramic tt

Guys,

I seem to like the older version of the blue face TT submariner 16613 vs the new model ceramic lue, however, most dealers in my area who carry both say that the new model is a much better watch with the bezel and solid links, however, that color just seems a bit off and not as striking. Any thoughs what others prefer. As I sometimes flip my watches ( I have 7), I would want the model that hold it's price closer to my purchase price if possible.

Thanks for the input

I like my old model dial/bezel colour. When the new blue TT came out I tried it for size and wasn't impressed by the colour. Now, however, I am liking the new blue one more and more as the colour does seem to change with the lighting where the old model doesn't seem to.
Having said that I would still try for a new 'old model' if you can find one.

The new one has the improved bezel and bracelet, but I much prefer the blue of the old version. Since looks are everything to me, I went for the older one.

I tried the new one on at my AD yesterday and i much prefer the new blue to the old. Gorgeous watch and very blue, stunning. If he hasn't sold it in a few weeks,it will be mine. IMO one of the nicest watches Rolex make at the moment.

I think I prefer the older color blue..

But I also prefer the upgrades on the new one as far as clasp, bracelet, bezel, maxi dial etc.
Too bad we can't have the best of both..

I'm a fan of the old 16613. The technical improvements on the new version (particularly the bracelet) appeal to me, but IMHO, the blue tone of the old one is absolutely stunning. I have never gotten over my initial dislike of the different shade of color on the 116613. Now, I feel differently about the all white gold version..........

I'm a fan of the older one and prefer the black face and bezel. Maybe the new one will grow on me.

I prefer the old one, I just like the color better. I think the biggest advantage of the new model is the date is more legible, but overall I like the old model better.

There is a big difference in the finishing grade between the new one & the old
I have compared both next to each other at my AD and the new looks amazing despite I had my 16613 for 4 years but the difference in finishing make me switch to the new one
The only draw back from my point of view that some times at the day light the blue (for the new Submariner) looks a bit fade

Fan of OLD model. Do not like new model.

Objectively speaking though, it's a no brainer - the older one will stay closer to the purchase price of what you'll pay for a used one. The new ones depreciate like a new car when driven off the lot, at least 20% or more once you're out the door and then have a used with box/papers watch.

If you have a great AD relationship and work out a cash deal on the new one,
I think it's nothing like a new car deprecation IMO.

I have also seen both and I would say that the new, lighter blue is probably more suitable for casual wear. This makes it more attractive to me vs. the old, darker blue since which is more of an all-round watch since I already have a multi-purpose TT GMTII.
