Does anyone know anything

Does anyone know anything about this watch:

The face of the watch simply says 'Rolex' at the top. And 'officially certified chronometer' at the bottom. No numbers. The Rolex Crown is at the 12 position.

The stem says 'Super Oyster Rolex' and has the crown and also a Swiss Cross.

On the side of the case above the 12 position is 6117 Modele Depose (Depuse).
Below the 6 position are the numbers 900579.

The hasp makes on the face are gold in color as are the hands. There is a gold colored band around the crystal. The rest appears to be stainless steal.

It had a crocodile band, however, I believe this was a replacement band as the clasp says 'China' on it.

I am attaching some pictures but I afraid they aren't very good.

Anything you can tell me will be greatly appreciated.

It's a 34mm Two-Tone Rolex Bubbleback, probably from the mid '50s

I would say that the "Officially Certified Chronometer" on the dial has been added during a refinish..

Yes, the dial has definitely been refinished

So does having been refinished lower or raise the value?

Typically, a refinished dial would lower potential value.

In this case, this particular watch is not high-up on the collector radar, and so any value loss would be minimal, if at all. This is the sort of watch that is bought/kept as a novelty or heirloom and would frequently cost as much to clean up/service and fit a strap/bracelet to as it would cost in the marketplace.

I know that your subject line for this discussion lacked any specific information.

i think that the other posters have aimed you in the right direction on the watch.

i would add that its a nice watch. the dial beign refinished hurts its value by about 30%. if it runs and you like it, wear it. i would not spend a lot of money on it repairing it. its not a very collectible piece but nice. go to a rolex dealer and get correct springbars for the strap you use. you dont want to lose it. harry

The word OFFICIALLY has two letter "I"'s in it, not one.

Commonly known amongst the collectors as " the illiterate refinish "
