Icon7 Lovin me some GMT matte radial dial!

This minty fresh 1974 GMT 1675 with "radial dial" arrived on Friday from Eric Ku. What a beauty, I love this radial layout on the matte GMTs! I've seen a few queries on what it means to be a radial dial: it harkens back to the original gilt layouts. The lume plots are smaller and farther from the edge of the dial (closer to the center). Gives it a great, unique look amongst its matte friend.

Nothing beats a faded pepsi insert either! I have to say, not having a quick-set date feature was REALLY annoying - probably took me close to 30 mins of turning the winding crown to get the date correct. Oh well :)

This example is a serial 4.1mill, one of the earliest radial dials I've seen (most are in the 5.1mill area). I understand they generally appeared from early 4mill to early 5mill - no idea in what numbers they were produced though. Anyone have any additional reading on them? I've seen Orchi's post - very detailed.

That might be the best example of a radial I've seen. Not only is the dial stunning, but you could cut yourself on the shoulders.

Amazing score.

I want to say radials were in the very early 4 to about 5.5 mil era.

Thanks Eric! I remember we were talking a while back about my next piece, I think it was going to be a 1680 red, but then I saw these radial GMTs...mmmm.

Super radial dial, gmt!!
Never have seen one so early, must be one of the first.
Surely if I were to have a matte 1675, it would be a radial for sure. Very nice.

Those were named after these early gilt dial 1675's.
Smaller plots, set in from the markers, like this. ;)

Lucky dog! Great example all around.. Congrats!!!

I have been looking to aquire a few more vintage GMT's but there have just not been a lot of fine vintage examples of ref. 1675/16750 to consider lately here in TRF classifieds or Timezone. I personally do not want to buy off the Bay.
