Anyone own a Rolex w/ a Sodalite Dial?

I was going through some files today and came across a photo I tore out of a magazine a couple of years ago of a Ladies Oyster Perpetual DateJust w/ a blue sodalite & diamond dial w/ sapphire bezel.

I know a lot of you guys have wives that wear a Rolex. Anyone own this watch I am talking about? I was wondering if someone does how much they love it?

I am in the market now for my second Rolex and I think this is going to be it. It's so stunning.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

WOW!! You do have exquisite taste in watches, Angela.

That baby on the right is none other than the Lady-Datejust PEARLMASTER in white gold with diamonds and all that bling. I'm not too sure, but I think that dial is Mother-of-Pearl too.

Gonna cost you a bomb, dear!!

Cute! I thought maybe you didn't like the looks of it. I do, however, appreciate you explaining what "no" means!

Well, Angela, I think I'd only be guessing, but with all those diamonds, you'd probably be looking around the $30K mark. You could call up the AD and ask him.

I'm also pretty sure that you can get amazing discounts on these models....I mean as much as 30~35% if you have a good relationship with the AD and are a good negotiator!!

Good luck - JJ

ouch! any suggestions on where i might find an AD that would discount this much? i could possibly do without the sapphire bezel and would be very happy with the bezel with 12 diamonds. what do you think this would do to the price?

i suppose i'll be saving up for a few more years... maybe by my 40th b-day in 2011 i'll be able to splurge on this baby!

Well, Angela, in reality you are looking at the PEARLMASTER which is one of the more expensive Rollies out there. If you have a lower budget, maybe you could consider a DJ in TT with 10 diamonds on the dial. It's very beautiful to look at and probably 1/3 the price of that Pearlmaster above.

You really need to go to your AD and check out which one smiles at you the most. If you look around, I'm quite sure you will find something you really like.

Good luck - JJ

Thanks for your thoughts... actually your recommendation is on my list too. As you may recall, when I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago I was experiencing some service issues with my DJ. It has gone out to be overhauled again (this time to a compentent repair facility), so I can't wait to get it back.

The thing is... how many DJ's does one person need? My current one has the jubilee band and a lighter blue mother of pearl dial w/diamonds & a diamond bezel (I will post pics when it is returned the week of 6/4... I know you are going to say "post some pics!").

This Pearlmaster model though... it is calling my name and has been for a couple of years. It's to the point that I made a color copy of the ad and cut out the watch and try it on my wrist just to see how it would look. I know, how silly is this?!?!?! Maybe it is the color of the dial, I don't know... but something about this watch just makes me smile.

The only reason I haven't done more research and gone to try one on is that I definitely want to pay cash for it. If I actually go and put it on my wrist and can't buy it now... well, I'd be torturing myself. If it takes 4 more years to save up for it, that's okay... I've waited this long already.

Angela, there are some very wonderful watches, prestige wonderful watches, that do not cost 30K made by Rolex. Go to your AD and look through the massive catalogue, and you will not feel like you compromised at all.....Check it out. For 12K you can get an awesome watch that you will never want to leave.

The Pearlmaster is a beautiful watch Angela. If it's what you really want then I say save up for it and get it when you're ready. After all, it's your money that you earn every day when you get up and go to work.

As far as your question of how many DJ's does one need goes, it isn't about what we need, it's about our hobby. You'd be hard pressed to get a sensible reply from someone here to that question. Do any of us need to spend what we do on a watch of any brand that we have when a Timex or Casio will do the same thing?

I say go for it

Hi Angela,

I have had a quick skim around the web and found these two options with the Sodalite / Diamond dial:

1. Pearlmaster / Masterpiece 18ct WG - $14k

2. Datejust SS/18ct - $5.8k

3. Matching DJ - Get your other half to treat you

Welshwatchman... thanks for doing some research... much appreciated! Looks like there are options out there.

Where did you locate Option 1 - Pearlmaster/Masterpiece? I would like to check and see if they have the 12 diamond bezel. Thanks again!
