Rolex President: Need Opnions
Hi, my father bought this watch about a decade ago from someone who was in need of quick cash. He sold it to him for around $ 10,000. I've been wearing it lately and I would appreciate some comments on it from all the Rolex experts regarding it's genuineness and model current worth etc.
Thanks, |

I don't think it is a 118238 as shown by the green sticker on the back......so I'm not sure.

I think it's a 18238 and not a 118238.

Thank you for the comments. I checked out both 118238 and 18238.
My questions are: 1). It only says "Rolex" under the crown and nothing else like "Oyster" or "President". 2). Similarly Day-Date is written in the lower center instead of the commonly being found under "Oyster" etc. 3). I remember seeing a similar dial on a website once but since have been unable to find any other Rolex's with the similar dial saying "Rolex" etc. 4). Is this a DAY-DATE model or the "President" model ? |

2. See #1 4. The model is called Day Date and the bracelet President I can not tell by your pictures if the watch is authentic or not but so far it looks good. |

I wrote 'about' a decade back, so that's 8/9 years ago.
There is absolutely nothing about the watch which makes me think it's a copy, I just did not know the model details which by your guys kind help I was able to trace out. On another note, I highly doubt that counterfeiters would be able to stamp a model number on a model before Rolex even launched it ;) |

Take off the bracelet on the 12 o'clock side and have a look what is written on the case between the lugs . Post a picture of it if you want .

I don't think that the first vertical line is actually a "1" It would throw off the model number being centered on the sticker from my vantage point. Perhaps just a coincidental impression of a vertical line. Best guess.
