is the waitlist to purchase a ss daytona really 2 years long?

I seen some daytona ss reviews that dealers are " blessed " when they do actually get one and that some have waited as long as 5 yrs.

It took me 1 week to locate one in beverly hills , but that's only because the locals probably prefer the white gold versions or rose gold.

So my question is , where you really on a wait list that was years long when you purchased your Ss daytona?

They probably say that and get you to put a deposit down. Then lo and behold a week later, they somehow manage to locate one for you.

Chuck Norris don't wait for Daytonas, Daytonas wait for him.

We have to say 5-8 years as we have 40 people on the list, but in reality, a lot of people are putting off buying one at the moment. We couldn't find any takers on the list for a couple of black dials last year, ended up going in the window. Still seems to be plenty of interest in the white, however

Depends where you are and your relationship with the AD.

I have heard that USA is getting better, the ADs are starting to display them instead if keeping them in the safe as most of them just unable o
Shift them as quickly as they used to.

Here in the UK is a totally different case. There are still not enough supply to the ADs and most grey dealers are still charging over MSRP for one. I can understand a 12 months wait here in the UK, but anything more than that is a joke.

If you are in good terms with your AD and they want your business, I'm sure they can get you one within 12 months... Rolex UK isn't that difficult to "talk to" apparently

catch a budget flight to anywhere in europe and get one in a day. you might even get it cheaper even with the air ticket.

In Singapore, there is no waiting list because it all depends on whether you're prepared to pay a premium to get the watch. This is a scam run by the ADs here who slap as much as 20-30% on the MRSP to exploit buyers who believe the watch is scarce and that if they want to pay MRSP, they'd have to wait many years.

Buyers who are silly enough to pay the premium (and there are enough out there to make the scam worthwhile) are not issued with a proper receipt because ADs know that buyers might complain to Rolex about exploitation. A receipt is issued but although it will show the amount paid, under description it'll simply state "A Rolex watch'' with no other details. The warranty card is properly filled out.

(ADs here ran the same scam for other supposedly "rare'' watches like the Sub GV and Milgauss GV, and are still trying their luck with the new green ceramic Sub).

Can walk in and buy one today (assuming it wasn't sold since I looked at it Friday). Sales person said they can get them regularly.

it is a pity i did not take a photo of the ad in tenerife. they had all sport models, inc a dozen daytonas ss, gold and wg.
i was even offered a discount (not a very big one on the ss) on them.

I can get two from a second hand dealer in Perth anytime! Otherwise I have seen a few pop up here in TRF in the For Sale section. Premium is paid by those who don't bother shopping and look for a bargain.

This economy has slapped the ADs in the face .... their attitude has been busted big time. They can see clearly that people are not spending like they used to and Rolex has been impacted by the recession just like every one else. Inventory is not moving like it used to. As a result, you see SS daytonas sitting on the shelves.
