My DSSD w/ new leather strap

Did a bit of experimenting today to see how a 24mm leather croc strap would change the way it looks and feels. It's a cheap strap and will get a custom one done with the right specs. We just cut 4mm to fit the 20mm stock width.

Well it improved the criticism about the original strap being too small as it tapered from 20mm to 17mm. With 24mm throughout it looks more balanced and macho.

More importantly it lightens the weight a lot. I haven't weighed the bracelet but seems like at least 50 gms is saved. Watch now feels like it weighs like an overweight PAM vs before that it felt like weighed like two PAMS.

What do you guys think? What final strap color/finish/buckle should I get?

Looks quite good. And yes I agree it addresses the criticism about the original strap giving the watch an unbalanced look.

Looks proportional.
With curved lug ends it would look even better.

Hi

In my humble opinion, any Rolex sports watch will look better with a leather/crocodile band than its original oyster bracelet, whether SEL or not.

Indeed, the Deepsea is a lovely and relatively hefty watch. I am sure, just like other Rolex watches, the bracelet may not be able to bear the weight of the actual 'watch-head', over a period of time. After some years of wearing the watch regularly, the bracelet will look hopelessly loose and haggard, while the watch-case remains evergreen.

Thank you.

The reason for stretch is dirt between the links slowly wearing the area around the pins making the bracelet appear 'stretched'. I'm sure this has very little to do with the weight of the 'watch-head'.

Pare, looks good! I, too, removed the lame looking SS bracelet after a couple of weeks of delivery. I had already bought a Breitling no-brand-marking rubber strap for my seawolf avenger titanium watch. Curious, I had the AD put the rubber strap on the Deepsea..... Bam! It was very comfortable and felt much lighter. The rubber strap has been on it since. I have also been entertaining a black and a dark brown leather strap for it. Now that I'm back in the US I will start looking for a decent leather strap.

Anyone w/ a DSSD think about the 24mm Isofrane rubber strap?
It would look good on the DSSD.

I like to see it on a clean rubber band, much like a PAM.

Much better!

That seems to be much more of a manageable watch!

I am a small wristed fellow but that might make the waych doable for me!

Good experiment!

Not bad at all.....

Personally, I have no problems with the original bracelet either!
