New DJ etc.

Just went to my AD today, since I have some things to do in the city of Copenhagen.

So I had a closer look a the "new" DJ. It wasn't an example with the new dial design, but BOY.....! ............that Jubilee bracelet! I'm in love with it!

Really nice chances that Rolex had made to the older loose Jubilee. We're talking solid centre links now and concealed clasp.

And what a nice feeling and look that concealed clasp has to it. When you open and closes it......wow!

I also had another look at an SD. And FINALLY I realized that I am not going to buy the SD. I do have a 7½ inch wrist, but I just think the SD in fact looks SMALL on my wrist!! Reason: The dial of the SD is 1 mm smaller in diameter than the Sub Date.

So my next watch will be: Rolex Submariner Date 16610!

And now something funny (or tragic ):

I was being "served" by a young, blonde woman sales' assistant. And then she suddenly said (while I looked at the SD clasp):

"And it is SO nice, too, that Rolex has made that "Easy Comfort" link on the Sea-Dweller clasp"

I replied: "No, they haven't"

She said: "YES! See? You can unfold the inner part of the clasp to make it longer!!"

I took a DEEP breath and counted to about 22 or 23 and then I replied:

"Now, THAT gadget inside the SD clasp is in fact the DIVER'S EXTENSION LINK! The "Easy Comfort" link was made to make wearers be able to adjust the bracelet quickly for example during summertime when your wrist swells a bit. But (I then showed her just HOW long the diver's extension link is) SEE....? .....You'd have to gain like 100 kilograms or be in a summertime environment of about 200 degress Celsius to have your wrist swell SO much that you could wear the SD "normally" on your wrist with its extension link folded out!"

Then I noticed that the AD had a white gold Daytona (also white gold bracelet) in the window display. So I asked her to fetch it out for me to look at. And then _ I _ had to explain and illustrate to HER what the REAL "Easy Comfort" link is all about.

Hey Bo,

What did you expect? She was blonde!!

But you're right about the new Jubilee and its concealed clasp - beauty!!! How did you find the DJ on your wrist? Small or perfect? When I tried it on, I did find it a bit small, but being more of a dress watch, I guess they are meant to look on the smaller size.

JJ

Even for the Oyster bracelet, the clasp is really nice. It no longer has the "sheet metal" feel to it and feel and look heavier and thicker than the old versions (inclusive of the sports model safety clasps).

I had a recent conversation with some of my more senior colleagues who had DJs as well and there were some hard core fans of the old clasp. They said that the "crown" stick out too much for comfort and they were not going to lose a single speck of gold by knocking the crown on the table top...

Jubilee bracelet .... A Fact: The ss Jubilee is the least prone to scratching/scuffing of all Rolex brcelets, especially now that the clasp has no flat metal surface.Would have liked a double lock, though.

The SD looking smaller than a Sub.... Its because when we go to the AD we always look from the top .. Any other angle and you will see the SD is actually a larger design.Viewed from an angle from the back of the wrist,it makes for quite a picture. The elevated crystal, the larger polished side of the case and the height, can be seen. A favourite

Despite the lovely Jubilee bracelet, the DJs still are too small for my liking, especially on the wrist A 40mm Airking and DJ will be a winner !!

So JJ are they ALL solid links. How about the new TOG in SS. Are the oyster links all solid? That might make me think about the jubilee again.

JJ:

Yes, in fact, the DJ looked GREAT on my wrist, not small at all.

But ouch, man! The price!......I looked at my favourite DJ in steel with fluted white gold bezel and with that aforementioned New Style Jubilee bracelet. Then I looked at the price: 46.000 Danish Kroner!! That equals 8200 US Dollars! That is not so far from the price of an SS Daytona.

And to the other question of a member: YES, the centre links of the New Style Jubilee bracelet are all solid.

WOW!! That price is ridiculous, Bo!! Is that price of US$8200 for the 116234 - SS DJ with WG bezel? Man, I can get that watch here for only NZ$6500 = US$4745!!

Cheers - JJ

I was amazed, too! I checked the Rolex pricelist, and it said that price of 46,000 Danish Cronor, too.

I think I'll have to phone him and ask if this can be true.
