Anyone buying before Monday's price hike?

Kind of torn about the decision to move on another piece right now. Anyone else in this boat? Am wanting the 116619 sub and a 116233 SDJ but was wanting to wait till later in the year to add one of these.

For every hundred reasons you can give me as to why you should buy, I can give you eight more...

I should clarify..............

I am not really interested in anything new that I don't already own. Well, except the Milgauss GV. But my watch fund is busted for the year.

Yes, I have the 116619. It is truly a thing of beauty. I love it. My 2 most prized watches in my collection are my 116619 and my 1680 Red Sub.

Do you realize that at an 8% price hike, that will take the 116619 to a MRSP of almost $34,000

Roja, I whole heartedly agree with you!

Jason, I tried one on in Aruba last month and it really sang to me! The weight made it feel special. I have a 1680 that I have owned since I was 15 and it is really special to me. It was with me for most of my life and have only recently retired her.

Jason,
I will post one a little later. My pictures are large and they don't upload now. Any suggestion to make them smaller before posting. I have an iphone, or Nikon camera.

Register for a photobucket.com account. When you upload them there, it automatically resizes them to 1024x768 and that size is perfect for watch forums IMHO.

After your picture is uploaded, just look for the "IMG code". Copy it and paste it directly into your message. It will pop your picture up here nicely

NO!

I am getting priced out of the market and not happy with the way Rolex is becoming.

Besides, I am looking to join the curmudgeons and they might not let me in if I did...

All of of ADs I've spoken with have confirmed that the price increase should take place on Tuesday, the 10th, but yes, I'm in the same boat as you.

My original plan was to buy it as my Christmas present but now I've been scrambling to find the configuration I want (pretty much as it is pictured with the exception of the dial, which I would like it to be a white diamond dial) before the price goes up. Or at least find an AD that will allow me to special order it and still honor the original purchase price after the increase.

Hopefully soon this will be my new baby:

Hopefully this isn't a hijack: I was wondering about sales tactics at this moment before a hike. Would ADs feel less pressure to deal right now, given the likely run on inventory by savvy buyers? Or, would they feel eager to deal because higher prices might temporarily slow sales?

Icon7 Yup....

I just put money down for the 39 mm Explorer ( last one they had in stock).....worked out to be an 8% discount off the old price of $5725, plus no tax on account of out of state AD, and I get the warranty in my name......not bad considering most ADs I spoke to didn't have one in stock (or so they said), and the ones who did have in stock simply didn't want to 'dea'l. Tried our trusted TRF sellers here as well, but no luck. With the price increase imminent, I had to make a move.

Looking back at prices earlier this year, I could have saved another $300 - $500 had I acted sooner, though back then I hadn't yet decided upon the Explorer as 'the one'.

Live and learn I guess.....

Most of the ADs that I've spoken with so far have been very eager to discount and try to workout a deal with me. One did mention that his experience is that sales do slow down a little right after a price increase but they eventually pick back up again.

I am good for now too.... I cannot imagine the market will continue to absorb these increases... I am thinking there will be some decent discounts except for the fact that the supply is so low

If I had some watches in mind I think I now have to justify if I really want them. Lucky for me I bought my super bling recently.

If you can afford to buy a Rolex in Geneva you may not need to be on the wagon
