Now I've gone and done it

I went down to the clock Doctor today to have one of my vintage watches (Glycine Altus 1960s) serviced, and got taken in by the mantel clocks *wind up* and ended up leaving with a Howard Miller Barrister mantel clock. It is beautiful.

I just wish I had an extra five grand to throw down on a seriously nice grandfather clock. I guessed right - the grandfather clocks are priced based on the woodwork, the better/nicer the woodwork, the higher the price.

Wow. I am hooked.

Got several HM's. My experience has been that they are finicky movements. My best grandfather for "run-ability" is an oak cabinet Ridgeway, which has run continuously for 25 years, been moved once to a new locale, and has never been serviced. Here's a quickie head-shot I just fired off.

Much obliged.

Here's my new Barrister. I'm very happy with it, I don't care about the accuracy as long as it's key wound and goes tick tock tick tock.
