How is Daytona availability in HK
Hi,
For any readers here who are currently in Hong Kong, what is the Daytona availability like there - in particular the SS ? 1) Are the new ones readily available in ADs and resellers ? If so what's the typical price ? Do you have to puschase something is addition to the watch ? 2) I hear that Rolex opened up a shop direct to the Macau public. What's the availability there ? I have an uncle visiting there and I am gettting mixed messages from him. He claims that there are lots of (new) Daytonas around. Thx in advance |

But there will be "SS Daytona" on every corner, if you know what I mean! So watch out, since you might get a knock-off. The Chinese are crazy about the Daytona SS, always have been. And you would probably not find ANY Daytona SS in any AD worldwide. However, there are some rumours about AD's that keep SS Daytonas in their vaults to satisfy the best of their customers, but really I do not believe that this it true. There is an approximate 6-year waiting list on them, so why should they keep them locked up? If you are a good customer at an AD, you just MIGHT get an SS Daytona in a year's time or so, but as a new customer, I would not hold my breath.

Think the Daytona SS world wide is still hard to get but plenty in the grey dealers at premium prices wonder why.

The "vault" theory is correct. I can attest to this.
Both my local AD have ss daytona in the vault/safe. The tt and full gold anyone can buy. To purchase the ss daytona there are two options: 1. List price but you need to buy jewellery of equal value 2. Pay a small premium. Other than this, yes the ss daytona is very hard to get. I would never buy grey market, i dont trust grey or second-hand. Not for that type of money... Even with the premium its cash in the bank, unless the premium is like double the price. Too many fakes out there so be carefully. |
