Has anyone ever
been to an AD and asked to purchase an item like a display stand, display pad, counter mirror, paper weight or something that normally isn't for sale, but is displayed? If so, did you have any success? I figure everything has a price, but dont know if they can sell items like that like I listed.

The AD in Tupelo gave me a watch display and a bunch of brochures a few weeks back. Very friendly store, the two salesgirls spotted my Pepsi window looking across the mall.

I do not think that it makes business sense for Rolex to allow these items to be sold by their ADs.
I expect that trust is a large part of the value of the AD network. Allowing some other punter to buy these bits and bobs could let them set up a shop that looks like an AD but actually is not and this might erode the trust and cause damage to the brand. |

We certainly have to return all of our display material to Rolex when its updated. Previously, we had to destroy it - I've had to spend several afternoons taking any references to Rolex off backboards etc, scribbling on stands with marker pen, anything to ruin it basically

i tried to get a display mirror from an AD last year whilst on holiday, went as far as asking how much he wanted for it but he was having none of it, just plenty of smiles & a shake of the head

I remember when I bought my Sub-C, I asked if I could get those little leather books that they lay the watches down on. They gave it to me free of charge, but it was from Tag, not Rolex. Still a nice gesture, considering they gave me a 25%+ discount and a free Tag Heuer backpack that is surprisingly high quality. Not to brag or anything, but it was pretty sweet

I once asked for a display stand but was told they could not sell it to me.
I guess eBay is the place to find such things.

I was able to get one of the pads that they set the watches on and a counter mirror but not from an AD. I was curious about the letters and coronet that is under the glass. It seems like they have a lot of these letters and such and they probably have spares, so I was just going to go AD shopping and start hitting them up. Sooner or later I would think someone would bite.

Mr. Churchill: "Madam, would you sleep with me for a million dollars?"
Madam: "Well yes, I suppose I would" Mr. Churchill: "What about for ten dollars?" Madam: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am!" Mr. Churchill:: "We've already established that, now we're merely haggling over the price" Or something like that. |

Uh oh...
I have a feeling that Jocke will be along shortly to post his homage to Rolex. He has every display case / retail tchotchki known to man - in his basement. |

I have even tried pawn shops that sell Rolex and they had nothing display like. When I asked the guy he said, Reps from Rolex have come into his shop and have taken anything that has Rolex on it except for the watches. He said that this has happened to at least 3 of his friends in the pawn business as well. So I'm guessing they keep a pretty good eye out for this kind of thing, unless someone just ripped off the pawn store for it's Rolex goodies.
