Get your self a Limited edition model as they will definately increase value. 360 is good, 382 might gonna be a hit, I know 339 is great. I bet would be a 232.

Its safe to say that the base models hold their value best of all. Very few limited editions are worth more than their original retail price.

000, 005, 111, 112 models tend to hold their values well. If you find a used one at better than 20% less than retail and it is still under warranty, then used is the way to go. Less discount than that, think "new".

Factor in service costs if you are buying one that is I series or older.

Tougher to find Panerai in Canada though, new or used.

Limited editions are always a good value item. But that doesn't mean it will always hold it's value or increase it's value immediately. However, you can count of it's price increase in say 5-10 years from now.

Buying used is always a great factor for me, I try to purchase pre-owned ones everytime I can, but in pristine condition of course.

Why buy used you might ask?

Well, if you get one in great condition, you'll probably end up having the same "faint scratches" or battle scars as I like to call 'em within 3-6 months of your usage anyway. And you worry less about nicking or having faint scratches as opposed to a brand new watch.

Afterall, we buy watches to wear. Unless you're a pure collector who display your watches only, then I suggest you buy new.
