Project watches?

After checking out the "show us your modified rolex" thread a couple times, I got to thinking that maybe undertaking a project watch would be some fun. I was thinking if I could find a Tudor Chrono, that I could maybe do some dial and hand swapping. Being a former car guy, I was always fond of hunting down parts and making things my own. Just wondering if anyone else has a project watch that they are working on and if they had any tips. I figure based on the reponses in the modified rolex thread that a decent amount of people have done some type of project work w/ their watches. Look forward to hearing everyone's input.
