Old Guy on the planet, New Guy here
Greetings from Central NJ (Metuchen)
My name is Ed. I retired in 2009 after 35 years at IBM. After about 3 months, of sitting and watching the market, a miracle happened. A golf buddy called and said he was working with a growing systems integrator and they needed a marketing guy, and would I be interested. Would I ?! Absolutely! My wife and I have 2 sons, one of whom is married and living in Charlotte, and who has given us our first grandchild - a boy too :0. My youngest just finished his first year of college, only to announce he's not sure what he wants to study and wants to take a year off to work, and make some choices. We'll see how that works. UGH. My wife works at the local Y in a variety of jobs, but primarily recruits and manages volunteers (of which I am occasionally one). We have a great marriage and I am very lucky guy to have fooled her into thinking me charming and amusing for such a long time. I stumbled onto this board since we are leaving in the morning for Bermuda (business for me, relaxation for her), and have heard stories about the supposed great deals in Bermuda on Rolex watches. It appears that they really aren't that great, especially if you declare it and pay the tax on the way home. So I posted that I was looking to start gently as I attempt to find a Rolex to nestle next to my Omega which has been totally perfect for over 10 years. My post asks for ideas on where to best spend about $5000. I do not dive so don't really have much need for a Submariner. I'd prefer to find a Day Date or something a bit thinner, but not too fancy..which may be a daydream, but I won't know unless I ask. Thank you in advance for your advice. I look forward to joining any of the NY Tri-staters for any get togethers in the near future. Regards ed |

You would be surprised how great a Submariner is to wear although you may have nothing to do with diving.
The Submariner is shown on the Rolex website being worn with a suit. It also works perfectly well when worn with a T-shirt. The versatility of a Submariner is second to none and you can get it in TT or solid 18K if you wish. Once you have worn one you will know.

WOW !!
Thanks all for the wonderful reception.. Back from Bermuda. No dealing there. I do think I like the blue dial date just I tried on, though a little above my price point on "sale" for $7250 at Crisson's in Hamilton. Thanks again, ed in NJ |
