Sub SS or YM -- Don't Like my Daytona.
Okay won't repost review of SS Daytona I received yesterday here (you can read under review section). Needless to say I am not as excited as I thought I would be.
However, I am back to the dilemma of tried and true SS Sub or something new like a YM Plat. Had tons of Subs and a new GMTIIC which I really liked. Thinking about something that is not as common (for good or for bad) as Sub, such as the platty YM. Owners weigh in (especially those who own or owned YM Plat/SS). |

The bezel on the SS/Plat YM is a ding magnet!
If you are gentle with your watches its a very nice option. If you beat them to death like I tend to I don't think its ideal for a one watch guy.

Hmmm, interesting. Didn't know that. It would be a daily wearer--but normally under a shirt cuff (unfortunately have a suit job).

I have thought long and hard about this and I have always come back to the Sub Date even though it is "common". There is a reason why it is "common" though. If you want something different, look at the NEW Explorer II that will be in stores in the next 4 months or so.

New TT Blue Sub, it keeps on pleasing me, every day. I like it more and more. The dial, the bezel, the gold, it all fascinates me.

Nothing
looks as good as the sun shining off a platinum Yachtmaster. My poor photographic skills can't capture it.

I vote YM. I just got mine and I couldn't be happier with it. It might be a ding magnet, but only if you're not that careful. You couldn't go wrong with either choice, but if you're a suit kind of guy maybe a YM could be a dressier way to go.

I would go with the Sub as I think it is more versatile and less subject to visible dings and scratches. That said, the Platty YM is great for dressier under the shirt cuff days.

Sub-C 4tw, ding-proof bezel, maintenance easy bracelet, easily adjustable clasp.

I had a YM too... just sold it about a month ago. It is a beautiful watch however it never got any wrist time from me. I dont know what it was but I rarely wore it. Never had any issues with scratches or the bezel due to the fact that my winder is very easy on my watches
For me it just looked better on others than it did on me. Do you still have the GMT C? I love mine or perhaps the Sub C/Sub C LV???

you'll love the dial on the YM!

Hmmm, really leaning going back to my roots--116610LN. I really do like the new improvements they have made to this classic.
I do like the polished center links on the YM though... |

Always good to have a couple of options. I'm glad the YM is one of my options.

I have a SS/platty. Have recently thought of selling it as I have become a little bored. But then again. It tells time and tells the date, Not much more is needed really. The dial is brilliant. I have chosen to keep it. I kind of felt like I would be missing out. In all reality. I will not part with it. EVER. It makes a very nice dress watch as well as a casual sports professional oyster Rolex. I purchased it because it fits more than 1 role. casual or dressy. It is as my wife describes, she is currently speaking in my ear. This Rolex suits many different events and has a certain style that is very different from all other on their line. It is her favorite watch Rolex offers, She is a bit biased. But I agree with her completely.
The polished Center Links and polished case, etc. do make it somewhat of a non daily for me. But I believe it can go any direction. It is a very versatile watch in terms of wearability. I have had mine since 2009 and I have zero dings or dents. Not much of a magnet of those for me. I am not extra careful. Just a little. |

Might not be dull but hard to argue it isn't grey lol
