The evolution of Rolex calibers for the future? (Interesting read)

I'm always fascinated by the progression/evolution of movements manufactured by Rolex (and other watch houses). Rolex in particular is interesting to me because of how evolutionary their adaptations have been, being over the decades rather than radical "right now" kind of implementations. While even enthusiasts argue over points like whether ball-bearings would be better for mounting a rotor versus Rolex's quiet and efficient but potentially fragile axle system, whether new hairspring materials offer meaningful advantages, etc....hearing watchmakers and technicians discuss these time-tested movements and their strengths & weaknesses is always most revealing, when it can be found.

With that said, just below is the link to a cool blog I found while scrounging around. The post itself is highly worthwhile, and so is the response immediately following, which--if true, and I have little reason to doubt it--once again shows that Rolex has no issues with utilizing state of the art watchmaking technology/materials even if they don't always go about jumping up and down to announce it (thus leading naysayers to say it's just "same 'ol, same 'ol with un-innovative, old fashioned and boring Rolex"). Apologies if this has been posted already!
