Talk to me about the Mare Nostrum
Either pre-Vendome or the PAM 008 series, preferably with black dial.
- Popular? - Collectable? - Wearable? - Practical? - Or just the odd man out... |

If I had 15-20k, I'd get one. I think the dial is incredible balanced IMHO. It is smaller and can easily fit those situations where a 47mm Panerai isn't welcome. I like how the lugs have the straight fit perfect for strap. (no curve empty space if that makes sense).
I love the blue dial pre-v. What are you thinking Patrick?

I think they look pretty nice, never seen one in person though. Prices seem to have come down, here is one for $16.5K in mint condition.

Me and you are on the same page. They used to go for 20k+ easy. They have come down and make me think they are a deal. I see the potential for them going up. Look how popular the 300 was and it is nearly unwearable.

For the 300, its another case of collectability surpassing wearability. LOL
I love 2 subsidiary chronos...it's balanced and without the overly cluttered dial. |

The 008 is a fine mare nostrum series. While it may not be easy to find one in like new condition, but they are in still in pretty good shape generally. I agree with Mik regarding the straight lugs with no gap, just like daytona on leather strap with lug caps, they are very very nice.
The 300 however, I tried one yesterday, and I must say it can only be pulled off by either Arnold or Sly. Or whoever has the same arm and wrist. For me? Well.. I can use it to put my coffee cup on it if I dont want to stain my table lol. If you are on a budget, the daylights are great too. Not my cup of tea though.
