Citizenship gift to myself (? rolex ~$2500)

Team,
I will be sworn in as a citizen very soon...
It is a monumental achievement one of which I am very proud.

I'd like to treat myself with a rolex; very first one.

I was thinking about an old DJ...

Do not be shy,
Thanks,
M

I just received my citizenship. My gift was a GMT IIc. But as many in this forum say, buy why sings to you. Try going to an AD and try different models, this is the only way you will truly know. Congrats.

Congratulations on your achievement! The older SS DJs with the white gold fluted bezel always have appealed to me. Whatever you buy, however, will be special in light of the event it will mark for you.

$2500 should buy you a very nice Datejust with box/paper, either a stainless or a two-tone.
$3000 may get you a Submariner if you look hard enough.

Congrats on the achievement!

I like the older DJ with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet.
It is very unlikely to box and papers for an older watch ? any thoughts?
Also, what is the most desirable color, how about white with roman numbers ...?
I am just thinking about the resale value...

Treat yourself to the one you like. Forget the resale value. You will get what you paid for it if you need to liquidate it.

Congratulations!! In a few years, I'll be 30 years a US citizen. It's only the first generation immigrant who knows the value of belonging to this country.

Can't go wrong with a datejust.

True, in a lot of instances!

Fortunately for me, my great grandmother extolled the virtues of the US to me, God bless her.

She came over "on the boat" from the Ukraine in the early nineteen hundreds. (1905, 1915?)

Her Flag Picture...

Great job on earning your citizenships. I suppose you know more about our country, past and present, than I do.
(I shouldn't laugh! )

I have ancestrial roots from Ireland in mid 1700's and Deutchland in 1850's. We are all very thankfull for our ability to celebrate fellow countrymen, like you that have sacrificed, so greatly to be accepted and be a part of a community of like minded free individuals. I'm proud and blessed to hear your story as it brings back memories of the struggles and rewards that my heritage has bestowed on me. Welcome, and many wishes and prayers your way for your continued success and well being.

You are dead wrong Sir. My family has been here since soon after the Revolutionary War. My family, myself and many multiple generation people I know will disagree 100% with your opinion, and thats all it is, your opinion.

Congrats on your upcoming citizenship!

The DJ is a great choice and you should find a broad range of preowned to chose from given your budget.
Good luck!
