This is VERY fishy...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Submariner...item2eb623d7a4

Notice the serial number AND model number are scratched out for some reason

And is it just me, or is that bracelet polished?

Movement looks ok to me, albeit kinda crappy in that picture...

What to you guys think? Am I onto a fake, stolen, or legitimately good piece?

Looks real from the pics. My uncle polished his like this. Not sure why the numbers are gound out like that. Though it could be something as innocent as the endlinks rubbing...seems the same shaped grooving on either side. It's still readable. If it was stolen surely they'd have ground the whole number out. Good price.

It looks good the serial and model are fine those marks are from the band rubbing on the case, it happens on older watches as the band get a little lose and it rubs more often... therefore now days Rolex has the serial under the crystal

I actually looked at that same auction the other day. Looks good to me but I don't like how they polished the Bracelet like that. Other than that it seems like a good price.

I'm not sure what's shifty about it. Brush the bracelet (and head?) and it will be fine again.

Looks decent enough to me. Possibly priced a bit high...but otherwise a nice watch.

Why would you ever think the "numbers are ground down?" And what in the world would make you think it was an insurance claim.

Vivid imagination is all I can think.

As Tony states above, the numbers are not ground down, they wear at that point from the bracelet!
