Daytona 16520 A Series vs BNIB Daytona 116520
Hi All,
Just want to ask your opinions regarding these two watches. I got an offer of A Series 16520 Black Dial Daytona (watch only + certification from RSC) with a higher price than a BNIB Daytona 116520. Which one would you choose and why? Thanks in advance |

I am not an expert only a person that recently purchased a BNIB White SS Daytona 116520. I personally do not purchase with the idea of collectibility. I purchase what I like and want to wear. My preference is always to purchase new if I can afford. In this instance, for me, the call would not even be close. I would purchase the cheaper BNIB 116520 long before I would pay more for the preowned 16520. Also if is my understanding that the movement in the 116520 is one of the best ever made. Good luck and either way enjoy your purchase.

I personally would not pay more for a SS Zenith Daytona than a brand new SS Daytona.

No question for me Zenith. To me represents the best of both worlds- a modern look with a vintage feel about it.

Brand new 116520 because you'll be the first one to wear it.

The Zenith is somehow more collectible, of course ask for more money.
It's just the A series it's very rare to see but it's only the watch with rsc receipt for authentication compare to a BNIB 11650. Hard, hard to decide. Other than the markers being small, slight alignment of the dials and brushed lugs, anybody can give me more pointers? Movement wise anybody pro 4030 vs 4130? I know it's been discussed to death in this forum, however, I really appreciate your guys' opinions. I am not an expert in Daytona; It's just I got smitten when I tried on a BNIB Black 116520 and could not get the feeling off my head. They also look good on my wife wrist. She was also smitten by Black Dial Daytona. |

you ain't the only one. i'm also stuck between 16523/4030 and 116520/4130. though slightly different, i still can't quite make up my mind which to go with. i am not buying collectibles. i just want a good daily wearer.

Down the line
Looks like its so far 50/50. Maybe a survey would help.
For me, a new watch is like a new car, its only new for one day. You put a little scratch on that new watch, and its no different then the 16520. I choose the 16520 for two reasons: -Eventhough its a little harder to read then the 116520, the contrast of the black sub-dials make the face more attractive. - "A" 16520 is more collectable. Anyone can buy the modern Daytona. Just look on Ebay. Either movement is top notch especially to an ordinary wearer. You may not consider selling it now, but when you buy a new car, you dont consider its resale value, until its time to sell it. Down the line, you MAY sell, and an "A" series Zenith will fetch you a better price, if not more. |

I like the Zenith models, but I wouldn't pay more for one (or even the same price) than a new 116520..
There are plenty of them around, they're not a rare collectible; so if you want a zenith Daytona, keep looking for the right price.. Between the two as you describe, the modern watch is the better buy.......

for daily wear, definitely a newer Daytona, the clasp is much better, the markers/hands are more legible.
for collectability or hopes of appreciation, the Zenith Daytona |

I prefer the zenith but it is not worth more than a bnib 116520 without the box and papers. I'd buy BNIB.

When it comes to the black dial I prefer the 116520, but the 16520 in the white dial.

I am trying to negotiate with the A series 16520 but they won't back down as the price is quite significant over the premium BNIB 116520.
Zenith 16520 really drives me crazy. They won't move for an inch. Dang!! |

BNIB Daytona 116520. It's new. The Black dial looks amazing (I'm biased) lol....you have all the upgrades.....it's pretty much the exact same watch as the zenith, same shape and etc....except for the movement obviously....unless it was a proper vintage..like a 6263,6239, etc, etc.....plus the 4130 movement is supposed to extremely highly regarded!

The sellers asked for 75% more than a BNIB 116520!
Can't believe it. |
