Changing the hands of a 233.
Okay I know this sounds pushing it.. But I really cant shrug off the idea of having gold hands on my 233. The 351 and so on are great watches, but I dont want them. I want my domed 233 to have gold hands.
Fiddy is another option, besides the price.. The size is also too much for me. Its huge on my wrist and I dont feel comfortable wearing one. So now knowing that no official panerai service centre would do this for me.. I will have to resort to my gray dealer's service man. Im wondering if this process is too difficult to handle due to the 8 days movement and am/pm complication or is it as simple as Mik's 210? And... What kind of risks would I be facing? Thanks guys..! Ps: I dont live at the states.

The problem you will have is finding the hands. You can't buy aftermarket, because there aren't any. 210 hands are easy b/c they are 6497 hands. You will have to find some OEM hands from a 289 (I think that is the number) for example. Putting the hands one should be pretty simple for a competent watch repairer. Getting the OEM hands.....that is another story.

I've done something like this before. Depends if the watch hand h/m/s posts on the ETA/Unitas are smaller than the 233 posts. If that's the case you can have your watch guy use a broaching set to expand the hole size of ETA/Unitas hands to fit the 233 posts. Won't work the other way. I'm assuming the lengths of the hands are the same. In any case not a mod for a beginner without the right tools or practice. Might be easier to find the OEM hands instead.

Hey guys;
I tried searching to find this post of Mik's 210 gold hand conversion, can someone point me in the right direction, please. I would also like to see to transformation, as I'm also looking to purchase my first panerai, and also had the same thought. I just love the gold hands, and dome crystal in the 44mm. Many thanks guys, Jeff |
