Hello all -

I'm new to the forum and have a question. If this is the wrong location, please feel free to move...and i'm sorry.

I have a SS Submariner that was given to me as a gift a few years back.

Well I went to wear it today (first time in about a year) and the bracelet came apart. One of the screw pins holding the bracelet together fell out and I lost it.

Is there a repair kit available that has the bracelet pins? If so, can someone please recommend one?

I called a local Rolex shop and they told me I had to bring it in for service and the price was $250.00 bucks. I know in the grand view of it $250 is cheap considering the cost of the watch, but I dont want to send $250 bucks on a $20 pin if I can avoid it.

Total BS from the AD you called.

Try another one with an in-house watchmaker on hand. They should have a replacement in stock and for a minimal cost....

yeah I knew it was BS, but he was the closest AD. next closest is about 45 minutes away.

Is there a place we purchase the pins online?

Do you have to go to an AD? Can't any watchmaker replace a pin?

Agree,its just the bracelet and not the movement.

Should be able to get them on eBay. It's always a good idea to check your screws, even if it's a new-to-you watch. I'm not sure about this but I have heard of people who use a teeny amount of Loctite on the screw threads to keep this from happening. I'm sure someone with more knowledge can share if this is OK or not.

Well, if you're in NJ, it's not far to RSC NY...They could fit a new screw pin in no time...

If not, try Ofrei.com!

thank you for the help. I checked out the site for the pins and worst case is I'll order from there.

I'll stop be the local watch shop to see if they have a pin, if not...off to NYC...

a new link comes complete with a pin for about $50 (current price)

all you need is a quality small screwdriver and a tiny tube of loctite.

Easy fix, I would go to the AD about 45 minutes away after confirming they have a watch guy on staff... This will take 5 minutes to fix and should be under $20 IMHO

Were any links taken out of the watch when it was originally sized? Take a scew pin from one of those.

It's very common, IMO, for AD's that don't do any watch service inhouse to claim that "service" is required. They send the watch out, and the large fee covers their aggravation, rather than anything close to actual work done.

Depending where you are in NJ, I have an AD in Sea Girt that is working on my Date right now. I aslo have a watchmaker in Pt Pleasant and Freehold.

My wife bought me another Rolex as a b-day gift. So between that, the Baume Mercier I have and a couple a 'cheapo' daily wears I have it just sat in the box.
