day date II
I'm new to the forum and wanted to get some comments on Day Date II. The other watch I was looking at the sub TT. How do they compare.

Myself not a huge fan of any precious metal watches, the movements are basically the same, sub has cal 3135.The DD has the added day complication making it into a cal 3155.The DD is what I would class mainly as a dress watch and because its all precious metal quite expensive. While the TT sub is more of a sports watch and in general to proportion to price paid new.The gold type watches don't hold there price as well as most of the S.Steel sports watches but like all Rolex Oyster watches will last 50 plus years with normal routine service .

It depends on what you like. Both are nice and can't go wrong ith Rolex.
DDII is a little more rare to see on another's wrist though. |

I've tried on the DDII. Maybe it's me but because of its size, it tended to get caught on my cuff. That's a bad thing for a dress watch.

Buy the one that speaks to you the most. Both are very different from each other, They are literally at opposite ends of the Rolex spectrum.

The Day Date is consider by some to be the top of the class when it comes to a Rolex watch. But like Padi said their isn't that much difference in regards to it's movement, however when compared to a TT watch this watch tends to depreciate even more.
I think it's an awesome looking and very dependable watch, however I would have to first consider a Patek before spending that kind of money on one watch.

It depends on your wrist size, a DDII would be terrible for me. However for someone with a larger wrist the DDII looks great.

Ones a sports watch the other a dress watch. Hard to compare the two without knowing what you're looking for. As an "only" watch I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

btw there is a mega price differences between the dd2 and tt sub, if you like the sub more then you will save lots of money for other luxury items. Just my 2 cent.. Cheers! .. Jennifer

Both DD II in YG and the TT sub (especially the blue ceramic) are watches of great presence. TT Blue SubC inject a sense of playfulness into the elegance of the TT while DD II in YG means business and also gives a sense of class as well.
Of course it all comes down to how many other watches you have and would you wear your DD II YG or TT Sub with all attire and most importantly which one you like best. Cost difference between the two is also another factor as there is quite a difference in cost there. I don't have a DD II but here is a picture to give you a sense of dimension between the DD 36mm and the DD II which is the same dimension (including the bezel) as the DJ II. I will take this opportunity to post a pic of my beloved TT Blue SubC as well Last edited by watchf; 31 July 2011 at 01:04 PM.. Reason: Spelling |

I prefer the classic size and proportions of the regular DD myself, but that is just personal preference.
Like Padi said, you'll have some serious depreciation if you buy new. If you buy pre-owned, you'd get a much better value for the $$ (closer to what you could turn around and sell it for).

I love the DD2 but...
It's about 20k more than a TT if that matters..
Some find it too big but I think it's a beautiful watch. If it's doable - go for the DD2! |

So different and attract different buyers IMHO. If you can get the DDII- go for it! Personally I actually prefer the DDI though but I am more of a classic throwback kind of guy!
