Looking at a 60yr old Oyster, first-time Rolex buyer, could use advice

Hello. My old man is turning 60 soon, and thought the title might make a nice gift for him. I have one in my sights at the moment. As I'm a first-time buyer, I could use some advice about what too look out for, how to ensure I get a fair valuation, whether I should insist on seeing partcular certification (ie/for the chronograph), etc etc. I will be seeing this watch in person. I would be immeasurably greatful for any advice this community can offer me! Thank you!

Always buy the seller. Make sure you are buying from someone you can trust completley and knows what they are doing. Because in a lot of cases there won't be any paperwork.

First rule - Buy the seller. Second rule - Buy the seller. Third rule - remember the first rule.

All the best!

If it is a pre-owned and you want peace of mind. Try to buy one that has been serviced at Rolex. So you can check and confirm when it was serviced since they keep ref# and they can see on detail what was done to your pre owned watch (serial no & model no).

Thats me just giving my 5 cents.

Can't say it enough....... buy the seller. Find and get independant references. Without paper work proving recent RSC service you should budget for a full service once you have it in hand. You would want to do this before giving it as a gift.
