Has anyone seen this new Hublot 4000m diver? This monstrosity makes the DeepSea look svelte and graceful! :)

I have to believe the 4000m WR rating is a pretty direct shot at the DeepSea.

But my god, while the DeepSea may be a little tall and chunky, at least it still looks like a freaking watch! I'm not sure exactly what the Hublot resembles, my first take was it looks like a high end G-Shock. :) At second glance, I'm seeing the Millenium Falcon. I'm expecting to see Chewbaca's head pop out of that ridiculous hatch looking crown guard.

Don't know what it'll list at, but I'm
guessing you could buy a few Deepseas instead, hey, even if you get 2, that's 7800m! :)

i agree...it does looks a lil bit too 'futuristic' for me too...but the lock down notch on top looks good tho..

I read somewhere that Rolex gave the Deep Sea the 3900m rating was so it wouldn't be confused with the 4000 ft of the original sea dweller. I don't know this as fact though. I just remember reading it when I purchased my DSSD.

The deep sea can go deeper than the stamp on its dial. Id put my money on the deep sea being over engineered than this "watch"

According to Watchtime magazine, DSSD has 4.000 m WR normally, but 4.000 m equals 13.000 ft. Some say that the number 13 brings bad luck in Eastern belief. Far East is a big market for Rolex, so Rolex avoid to use the number 13 on the dial.

At 3900 or 4000 you're still dead. The good news is that if you're dead you don't have to kick yourself for paying 20-25K for that thing. The bad news is you'd have to float around the briny deep with that thing on your wrist.
