Cleaning a Datejust

How do you guys go about cleaning a datejust?

Is it safe to run under water?

What do you guys suggest?

Absolutely. Check to make sure the crown is screwed down first, just to be cautious even though the gasket would probably prevent the water from entering into the watch anyway.

Soap and water is OK but I use a spray on watch cleaner and a soft bristle toothbrush at least once a week. It just takes about a minute and then you rinse it off under running water. The cleaner is made by Veraet and can be bought online at www.vereat.com.

I use hand soap, warm water, soft toothbrush, and dry with a micro fiber cloth.

The brush will do a more thorough job of getting between the links. I bought a child's toothbrush to ensure that it's soft as possible. Whatever you do, don't use an old brush that might have any residual toothpaste since the abrasives in the paste will scratch the shiny bits of your watch.

No problem, that is what I use on my DJII all of the time.

It's always good to keep these things clean, and it also prevents dirt from causing the bracelet from stretching.

The metal cannot stretch but the dirt grit from daily wearing gets between the pins and bracelet holes can elongate the pin holes. But as long as you keep the bracelets clean with plain soap and water your bracelets should last a very long time.

I guess I'm just doing it the lazy way, but I wear mine in the shower. Between the soap and shampoo it stays real clean. I do make it a point to rinse it off good, and also do that whenever I wash my hands. Then I just dry it with whatever I'm using to dry my hands.
