What does the WIS think about the Speedmaster 3510.50

Looks great, many a used one going for $800-$1000.

Is it a great watch in your opinion?

I want a classic watch, don't need a Rolex, but do you think this is a good classic watch? Is it a good value?

I know the Omega brand speaks for itself, but want to know about this particular one.

Thanks.

cant go wrong with a speedmaster its just that the resale is not as good as a rolex thats why you are finding those prices

Omega discounts on brand new like 10-40% off if you are lucky, Rolex doesnt discount as a basic rule.... I think this is the major reason why you can pick up an Omega at a great price used.

The Speedy Reduced is a great watch, the only thing I've heard is that the movement is quite complicated and therefore difficult to work on ie. can be expensive to repair if something goes wrong..... a more experienced techo might chime in and rescue me now!

Thanks for the input, I hope when I decide this watch will be in the go to group.

Hopefully it is made to the same standards as the Professional. I certainly like that it's an automatic.

Thank you.

Thank you.

The reduced version is more of an "homage" to the Professional. It has an ETA movement with chrono module piggy backed onto it. Servicing can be quite expensive therefore.

I would recommend you save a little longer and go for the Pro. You will not regret it.

I looked at the reduced model when selecting my Speedmaster. It boiled down to two things...heritage and face layout. Historically, I like the Speedy Pro since it's the "real thing" when it comes to its use in the NASA programs in the past. I like that. And if you compare the faces of the reduced and the Pro models, you can see the 3 and 9 hour markers are much shorter to allow for the reduction in size. The chrono circles are the same as the Pro model. So what you get is an odd look, in my opinion.

Go for the Pro.

That's a beautiful collection

Personally, if I have only one Speedmaster I would go for the Speedmaster Pro, it only costs little bit more.

Wow, thanks for the incredible pictures and honest feedback, me on a fairly tight family budget with a stay at home mom and three year old, well I earn the only income, so I will have to save a bit longer for the Pro, but I like the honest feedback here, I know me and if I get the reduced, I'll be wanting to get the Pro later, if I just wait to get the Pro, I won't need a reduced.

Thanks again. And great pictures.

I LOVE the Speedies. It's the only chrono I've ever really been interested in, and I'm not quite sure why. As you said, go with the pro and because the discounts on new are so good...I'd recommend going that route as well. Good luck!!
