Is this a real Datejust?
Okay, first off I'll start by saying I dont have a camera right now. So I'll be VERY descriptive here, and will post pictures A.S.A.P. I got this Datejust from my grandfather who recently passed away. I dont know anything about it, I dont know the model number, the year or anything. I think I heard he got it in the mid 80s, but I'm not sure if thats when it was made. So it's a gold case on a two tone oyster bracelet. The two tone bracelet was a custom thing, he didn't buy it like that. It was originally all gold on a gold jubilee bracelet. It's 34mm in diameter, not including the crown, 39mm with the crown, and about 44 mm lug to lug. It's about 11-12mm thick when sitting on my wrist. It has no cyclops magnifier, which again was a custom thing. It has a white dial with, no numbers, just long verticle hour markers, with black hands and a smooth sweeping, slightly lagging black seconds hand. The crown screws in and the seconds hand stops when it is pulled out to change the time. You pull the crown twice to change the date, once to change the time. It has a normal looking Rolex screwback. It has pretty thick crystal, which protrudes about .5 mm off the face of the watch. It has a gold fluted bezel. The clasp on the bracelet (which I think is aftermarket) is plain and has safety. The links are solid end and about 4 mm thick. The lug space of the watch is about 20mm. I think thats about everything. I know, "This thread is useless without pictures" but like I said, I dont have my camera right now. So basing on what I described, does this sound like any specific Datejust? Or is it a fake (basing on what I told you). Thanks.

Pictures speak a thousand words.....without one, it's anyones guess to authenticate a watch by discription alone!

You don't even have a phone with a camera function?
Please come back with detailed pics if you want useful input. Truly, nobody can authenticate from words alone. |

I do, but I've Geo Tagging on my phone, which means anyone can trace a photo to my street address. It's been done to me before, and on a thread about a possibly five thousand dollar watch I'd rather not take that risk.

You mean you can't turn it off and snap a couple of pics then turn it back on? Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks. I guess I take my phone for granted. Looking forward to the pics
