Question from first timer

I just received my first Rolex as a surprise wedding gift from my new wife. She bought it with the stipulation that the jeweler let me return the watch, unworn, for the specific model that I want.
I love the Datejust. My question is in regards to the bracelet. I prefer the look of the jubilee over the oyster, but was curious if one "feels" better or is more desirable. I will never sell or trade the watch, but am just looking for some input. Is there differences in the clasp?
In order to be able to return the watch, I couldn't put it on. I am a big guy so the models in the stores are usually not large enough for me to fasten the clasp when I try them on. This is why I have so many questions about the bracelet.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Congrats! In regards to the bracelet, it's really a personal decision. I love the jubilee bracelet on my DJ and find it very comfortable. Very classic too!

Note that the oyster is more 'adjustable' though. I'd recommend you go back to the store where your wife purchased the watch and try on the jubilee version too. Many people aren't aware that a 1.25 link can be ordered for a better fit. Definitely helped me!

Of course you can wear and try it on. How else would anyone know if it fits? Or even if the watch looks nice on your wrist.
Just don't remove the plastics if they are still on the bracelet.
I'd go to the jeweler and try on a few of the watches and select the most comfortable one.

Personally, I find the jubilee to be... a bit annoying for a everyday where. It has a very "loose" feel to it when compared to an oyster.

But agree with others, try it on and see what you like the best. Congrats on two life changing events!

I would say if you dress up for work or life in general stick with the jubilee. Otherwise go with the oyster. Did she get it at BC Clark? If so be sure to check both downtown and Penn. They both have very different stocks.

We have bought lots of jewelery at Kelley in Weatherford. That is where she got it and I am headed there thursday.
Ideally, I would like the jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel, and silver dial with the standard marks on the hours. The closest one they had in stock had the roman numerals on the dial and the oyster bracelet.
I dress nicely for work and think this would compliment my white gold wedding band.
What do you think?

Go for it.

Jubilee = more expensive ($100 more), more complex design, classier looking, clasp is just amazing(!!), very comfy, better with fluted bezel

Oyster = very comfortable due to micro adjustment, scatch magnet(!!), sportier looking, better with polished bezel

You could probably get them to order you what you want. Don't settle. Especially on such a special watch.

The DJ looks great on a Jubilee. However if your a real big guy you may want to try a DJII. However the Jubilee isn't an option with the DJII.

Try a number of different ones on before making a decision, there are a number of great ones to choose from.

I have admired the Rolex line for a loooooong time, but never thought I would own one. I weigh 250 and like the DJII, but I like the look of the jubilee bracelet more.....I think. They will pretty much order whatever I want.......just picking some more experienced minds while I have the chance.

I too have only had the oyster with the fluted bezel, but this is a special gift and you need to get what you want and be happy with, otherwise you will always wish you had the jubilee. Congrats

I would suggest going in to the store and having a look at the full line-up.

You will then be able to answer your own question.

I'm a big fan of DJ's on jubilee with stick dials. However, the romans is pretty special. I'd probably take the romans with your DJ.

It's a matter of taste, but personally, I prefer the Jubilee on the DateJust.
