OK, this is a newbie question....sorry. Please tell me about the Rolex polishing cloth. Is it impregnated with a chemical cleaner? If not, how is it used? TIA, Bill P.

I'm not aware of any chemicals on the polishing cloths that come with new Rolex. I just wipe the crystal and bracelet of my watch dry when I do use it, which has been about once since I bought the watch.

I guess most people just chucke at the cloth as another of those Rolex gimmicks that you get when buying a Rolex.

As far as I know, she is not impregnated!

Nothing special about it..

...But don't use it......

You'll get it dirty, and it's gotta be included with the box and papers

Neither of my two new watches came with a polishing cloth....is this just an American add on or do the watches worldwide come with a cloth as standard ?

The one I bought last month didn't come with a polishing cloth (had it mailed to a friend out of state to avoid sales tax). When I received it I went back to the AD and asked about a cloth. He said they no longer came with a cloth but gave me a new one they use in the store for their display watches.

It was a green and white cloth with RolexRolexRolex all over the cloth. It came from a whole stack of new ones he had under the counter. If you spend that kind of money, ask for one of the ones they use!!!

I'm kinda confused. Some Rolexes are delievered with a "care cloth". Just a small and lousy cotton cloth, jagged edged (saying "Cellini", I believe). If you mean that cloth, IMO it is just a worthless piece of junk.

To keep your Rolex clean, wash it once a week in lukewarm water, using a mild hand soap (non-balsam one!), wash it, and try it with a clean towel.

I got one of these cloths it felt like suede or the same material same as the insides of the box. I also got a little green sponge. I didnt know what that was for. I just left it in the box and closeted it.

I've got a D model Exp II and some earlier subs; they all came with a cloth. I have a Z model GMT II that did not have one.

I'm going out on a limb and say the switch occured within the past couple of years.

Same here, my AD said watches no longer ship with the cloth... My sub also didn't come with the anchor.. It did come with a hefty price tag, though...

The AD said they have stacks of cloths all over the place, and if I ever wanted one, just to let them know...

Mine both came with the same above cloth. Pretty much worthless and too small. I've been washing mine this way and polishing with a microfiber cloth. If I've perspired a lot, I'll rinse it with clear water. Sweat is salt water after all.

hi!

When i bought my sub recently, i asked if they had a nice polishing cloth, and the nice lady gave me a "Cartier watch cleaning kit" that consisted of a small aerosol of cleaner, a soft brush and a microfiber cloth. like this......

It works really well, the soft brush gets all the gunk out of your bracelet and the cloth is nice also. Well worth blagging if you can!

Hi!

You spray it on to the bracelet, leave it for a minute, use the brush to work it into the bracelet links, then wipe it dry with the cloth. If it is the work of Jocke, he now works for Cartier and sells his product to Bond St Jewelers!

Anyway: I'd rather buy a bar of Imperial Leather from Marks & Spencers and wash my watch with it in lukewarm water than using this spray on my watch.

I simply couldn't get myself to spraying my watch. You never know what chemicals are inside, and Cartier and Bond St. won't make me change my mind.
