Platty DD vs AP 28520 perpetual calendar w/leap year

I know they are 2 totally different watches... But which would you choose?
My platty DD is the 118296 with blue glacier roman dial and dia lugs. New style clasp and bracelet, box and papers.
The AP is all SS with blue face and perpetual calendar with leap year, with 2120/2802 movement... it's BNIB.
The dealer offered the AP for my watch and $2k... Thoughts please?

I think that would be the 25820ST.OO.0944ST.04

I mean, movement and horologically speaking, the AP QP is twice the watch. Far less bling. But it all depends on your tastes and needs. I wouldn't sport a QP everyday as a beater.

Personally I'd do the AP. Easily.

Will it be that particular AP? Doesn't seems to be a it as it's retail is around 65k. If it is that model, I wouldn't be able to think any reason to say no from the horology standpoint. Cheers!

Oh now I realised your DD is with the diamond lug, hence the value is somewhere around the AP. But still the same, AP has definitely a charm above most brands.

OK
Looked at the AP.
First of the DD Plat minus the diamond lugs is one of my favorite watches.
The AP is nice BUT it's too busy honestly.

Also when I think of a watch with complications I just think of more of a dress
watch on a leather strap etc.

Also, you can swim with DD but you can't the AP

It is REALLY a tough call only you can make.

Id sort of be hesitant to wear the DD a lot because of the diamond lugs (as I said my choice would be without them but Id wear it a lot!)
The AP you can wear daily but you can't swim with it like you can the DD. But still as I said looking at the AP dial on that model
in blue with the AP waffle texture and all the sub dials it looks VERY busy.

Please let us know what you do....
I don't think you can make a mistake either way quality
or value wise.

One consideration to keep in mind is AP service on a Perp Cal....
Servicing a Rolex is not cheap, servicing a basic AP RO is even more expensive
so I can only imagine what you would be looking at for a AP Perp Cal!

The DD is jewelry; the AP is a watch.

Definitely two totally different watches. I think you really need both a precious metal dress watch AND a SS sport watch though. Is the DD Platty your only watch?

When it comes to paying for the service, the AP will bankrupt you. The Rolex won't.
