That's the beauty of it. YOU know it's Platinum, and that's all that matters. If you want the best (and can afford it), then there's NO contest. If you want people to notice your watch, get a $50 blinged out fake and wave your arms in the air. I think if people are wearing Rolexes for others to notice them, then there are some pretty disturbing underlining issues that need to be addressed. John. |

SS all the way! Only one of my "want list" watches is TT and it still hasn't even been "called up from the minors"

Gold is classic and has been for centuries, which is why I believe rolex & gold go hand in hand. Read this excerpt
Gold has been known and highly valued since prehistoric times. It may have been the first metal used by humans and was valued for ornamentation and rituals. Egyptian hieroglyphs from as early as 2600 BC describe gold, which king Tushratta of the Mitanni claimed was "more plentiful than dirt" in Egypt.[4] Egypt and Nubia had the resources to make them major gold-producing areas for much of history. Gold is also mentioned several times in the Old Testament, and is included with the gifts of the magi in the first chapters of Matthew New Testament The south-east corner of the Black Sea was famed for its gold. Exploitation is said to date from the time of Midas, and this gold was important in the establishment of what is probably the world's earliest coinage in Lydia between 643 and 630 BC. The Mali Empire in Africa was famed throughout the old world for its large amounts of gold. Mansa Musa, ruler of the empire (1312 - 1337) became famous throughout the old world for his great hajj to Mecca in 1324. On the way to Mecca, when he passed through Cairo in July of 1324, he was reportedly accompanied by a caravan that included thousands of people and nearly a hundred camels, giving away so much gold that it took over a decade for the economy across North Africa to recover, due to the rapid inflation that it initiated. The European exploration of the Americas was fueled in no small part by reports of the gold ornaments displayed in great profusion by Native American peoples, especially in Central America, Peru, and Colombia. Although the price of some platinum group metals can be much higher, gold has long been considered the most desirable of precious metals, and its value has been used as the standard for many currencies (known as the gold standard) in history. Gold has been used as a symbol for purity, value, royalty, and particularly roles that combine these properties. |

First of all: I LOVE your avatar! I really love cats! To your question: My preferred Rolex case / bracelet material is STEEL. Next preference would be yellow gold.

Mine's plutonium but it makes me feel weak and I can't fly when I wear it.
Apart from that I have no favourites.

I love the look of the platinum DD. The first one I saw was in Vegas at Tourneau years ago, and it made a big impression.
Since then I've seen many of them. They are not rare, as most people (including myself) do not want to spend the money. |

I thought it was Kryptonite that did that to you. Isn't that why you don't have the Kermit?

Yes, I agree, but that's not why I (personally) love and wear a Rolex. You know, you maybe right, maybe sub-conscientiously I do want people to notice. Quote:

Yeah, I think I've decided to stick with this one for a while - unless the right offer comes along . The Pepsi GMT was my first love, so it's really nice seeing it on my wrist again.

I would vote SS from a functional and more practical standpoint.
Nothing tops 904L!!! But...I have this odd affinity for Platinum. I love it's qualities...dense but maluable as well as being rare and noble...and TOTALLY impractical. Kinda like me I guess...LOL |

Love white gold because it doesn't "scream" as loudly as yellow.
