News About New Explorer II Release in U.S.

I just received a message from the Rolex boutique regarding the new Explorer II. More than a month ago I left my name and number with one of the sales ladies in order to be informed as soon as the new Explorer II hit the store. Well, looks like we'll have to continue waiting.

Here's a transcript of her voicemail:
"Yes, this is XXXX from the Rolex Boutique this message is for XXXX and wanted to let you know on the new Basel Explorer II, Rolex has advised us that the piece will not be released for another two to three weeks so some time into the middle or later part of October and I just wanted to update you on that. If you need to ask any questions the number here is XXXX or if you decide you would like to pre-order it so you're assured on getting it just give me a call.....

Why do we need to keep waiting for so long? What's up with Rolex?

This sucks!!!

So close, yet so far away.

Just a couple of more weeks, we are almost there.

Anticipation is a part of the fun.

I'm bored of it by now. I don't even desire one at this point. Thank, rolex, for saving me some scratch.

No doubt...I'm so very bored of it all. I'm thankful I was able to get together a nice collection of watches while I could afford it.

Rolex probably needs to retrain the border patrol for the new model.

Friendly AD here!

The primary post is correct, the Explorer II's will not be released until mid to late October in the US (news given to me by my Rolex Rep 5 days ago)... This is frustrating since I see the watches now on wrists in other countries. I got a taste of the watch at the Rolex Baselworld in NY earlier this year and it is fantastic!

It is possible to have already "sold" four Explorer II's here in the US, it's just a matter of taking a deposit for the watch prior to physically having it.

If the boutique did in fact sell them out of their vault and physically have them, I too am left scratching my head. I can only assume they purchased from a dealer overseas. There's been news of counterfeit Explorer II's surfacing already, as well as the Fake SubC which I saw in person 2 weeks ago (the best fake I have personally ever seen).

Cheers,
Kyle

Read this thread and draw your own conclusions. I do know that Mayors has a very good rep with Rolex which may get them better access than other ADs.

Rolex USA told me November just yesterday. Mine is on order and I'm not expecting it for another 6 weeks at the earliest. There is one for sale on a popular watch forum starting with a 'T' for $11,000

Wow, Maybe the boutiques get the new product a few weeks sooner? I'll get to the bottom of this tomorrow.

The boutiques get the new basel product a minimum of 4 weeks before any AD's receive them... A Perk of being a Rolex only boutique....

I heard about this...there is something defective with a spring on the movement and something to do with the black paint on the hands already flaking or peeling. Just freaking crazy and a PR nightmare...

Do a Google search...it's out there. Not sure how it didn't hit the forum yet....
