Decision point is here ... Keep the GMTIIC or get the new black Explorer II...
It looks like the 5th is the day. I can't really justify both watches because I wear SS watches infrequently. I'm thinking that right now I don't really have a rough and ready Rolex watch (yes; I know they are all truly near indestructible!). All of my watches are polished and dressier. On the other hand, I have now owned the GMT IIC twice and something made me buy it again. It is a great watch. I'm not yet willing to part with my SS Daytona. Oh well, I count myself lucky to face this dilemma and it gives me something new to think about today.
As for size, I'm doing OK with the 41 mm Day Date II, but also wonder if 42 mm might be too big for me; though I tried on another "dummy" Explorer II a week or so ago and it fit better than the one in the photos below. That watch was very loose on my arm. In any event, it is smaller than my new G Shock below; which I'd probably wear everyday if I didn't have my Rolex watches! It's my running watch (pardon the pun). |

A tough choice Otto. But I'd probably keep the IIc and just wait until the the secondary market start seeing the Exp42 at reduced prices....
Either way, two great looking watches!

Otto, I'm not crazy about the new Explorer 2 so I'd say keep that cool GMT!

The Explorer II is a very nice watch, but I really think the GMT IIc is nicer...but I bought one on Monday, so I would say that!

I say stick with the GMT! Give the Exp42 another look maybe a few months to a year down the line, once the "new model" hype and excitement has passed.

I'd go with the ExpII, primarily because I don't care for ceramic.

I have a similar dilemma. Which is buy the GMT 2C or the Exp42. The pcl's on the GMT is prone to scratching; on the other hand so is the bezel on the Exp. Its one or the other and I can not wait as I must buy one on my trip to the US this month. Desicions..desicions.

Both great watches. I'd probably hold on to the GMTIIc.
Good luck! |

GMTIIC looks great on you. I'd say keep it and wait for a EXPII2 down the line.

Otto. I would keep the GMT II C. However as you know prices in Japan really never stabilize so if you want the Explorer II get it and you can source a used GMT II C later if you really miss it. Or just get the Explorer II and keep the GMT II C. Its only money. You can make more.

Keep the GMTc and wait for the E42 on the used market. No point in taking a loss if you don't like it.

Hi Otto,
As someone who bought / sold and re-bought a Speedy Pro...I say hang on to that GMTIIC. I am not letting my Speedy go. I like the white Expy II...but seem to lean to the old one. You know, I still think about our meet up at Jack Road in Tokyo. Kicking myself for not getting a M Series White SS Daytona I tried on that trip. |

Keep the GMT. We know both can take abuse and have the 24 hour function, but the GMT is a much nicer looking watch.

Otto, here's the thing shee. The C has this very expensive moving part that just as well be placed in a frame.
Get the non moving bezel'd GMT aka the E42 and send that C a packin to some new fortunate son or daughter ~ !
