Questions about PAM 292
This is a watch I've had my eye on for quite a while now. I am not a PAM owner and not nearly as knowledgeable about the brand as some other brands.
I'm wondering what the PAM fanatics think about this model. Coveted amongst Panerai folks in general? Also, is the "pig" dial of importance to only the hardcore? Cheers! |

The 292 was the watch that got me into PAM's. At the end, I decided to flip it & moved on to the Luminor's. No regrets.
Adding the pig to the mix will be an additional 5-6K to the bottom line. At that price point, I'd probably consider a 233 or 372 instead. You can probably find a non-pig in the low-mid 7's. Good luck! |

the pig dial 292 is a collectors piece
If you want to spent an extra 5K for that dial, thats up to you would you pay 5k extra for a red 1680 instead of the cheaper white 1680 ? |

When the 292 was first announced, the paneristi world went wild. Everyone called their dealers and put their names down. When they first made it to the street, the flippers had a field day. There was an incredible pent up demand. Prices went through the roof. The following year, when the series was continued (sans pig), prices were still high. However, it really wasn't that hard to get one anymore and so prices moderated a bit. Last summer I went into an AD in Greece and while looking at his collection he asked me if I was interested in a 292. I of course said yes. He pulled out 5 of them! Offered me my choice of serial numbers. They were all K series (the M's were just arriving in stores). He admitted that he horded them in hopes of making windfall profits on them. Then he offered me a 20% discount.
Of course I went home with one! I did tire of it quickly. I don't know why. I sold it a few months later. However, last week I picked up another... It is truly a great Panerai, and I think there will always be a solid demand for it on the used market. You can't go wrong... |

So, here's a wrinkle - which would you go with FIRST: PAM 292 or GMTIIC??
Very different watches, obviously. Badly want both. Currently have: Milgauss GV A Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Chronograph Several "beaters" |
