where would you go to try on an old model sea dweller?
i often consider an older sea dweller but would want to try one on before buying. i believe they are very similar to the older style sub but would still want to try it on. so how would you find one other than dumb luck at a dealer?

Call some ADs and Pawn shops if necessary in your area.
I personally wouldn't buy one from a Pawn Shop however.

You'll probably end up buying it if you try on a Sea-Dweller

Calling pawn shops is a great idea. Look for TRF get togethers.
Maybe a TRF member who lives in your area may step up and you can buy him a cup of coffee and talk watches. It does wear with more wrist presence then a sub. I have had customers who have traded in their Sub as they missed the wrist feel of the SD. I have tried changing up as I've worn an SD for years, and keep coming back. It is my favorite Rolex diver due to the no cyclops clean face and the added substance of feel. It is "bad ass" without having to scream I'm "bad ass" like the big wannabe watches.

Excellent advice. You may also call some high volume grey market shops in your area and see if someone has one for sale locally.

Good luck in your search, you won't regret the time chasing one down to put on your wrist
George explains it well

First off, Kudos on you for wanting a SD vs. a DSSD.
I had a SD and wore it a bit while selling it on this website. It wasn't for me, but it's a fine watch. I'd say maybe look for one for sale here on TRF from someone who has a 3 day return policy. It's either that or get incredibly lucky finding one in some grey dealer's stock that you could wear around a bit. Besides, a full 3 days of wear would be better than the few minutes you would have wearing it around in a watch shop. |
