Smartphone?
What's the best to get? iOS or Android?
HTC, iPhone or Samsung?

Anders ....I just moved from the iphone having had them from their introduction. They are user friendly and no doubt a fantastic bet . Sales and market share will demonstrate that.
But I took a plunge recently and picked up the Samsung galaxy s2. It had incredible reviews and many friends had one including John Beth from here. After one day of learning the new os I have to say it is far superior to the iphone. Incredible features ...way more adaptable...excellent screen size....slimmer ....lighter .....best move I made . Believe me I was a die hard iphone fan until the S2.

I started with the Palm, moved to Android for about 5 months and went to the iPhone 4.
Never looked back. The iPhone is rock solid compared to my Droid. If I have a criticism of it it's that it is now a relatively old technology compared to the newer Androids. I'm looking forward to the iPhone 5 but that may be a ways off. Whichever platform you end up choosing you are likely to wonder how you lived without it. My smartphone has improved my productivity and given me extra time at the end of the day that used to be reserved for answering emails. |

Samsung Galaxy S2
iPhone 4 Both are pretty good. I think Samsung has the edge over iPhone 4 though. Not sure what iphone 4S will be. 4S seems to be a catch up to Samsung only but haven't tried it. |

Tried both galaxy s2 and iphone and it appears i am more of an iphone man. The apps make the difference for me. Once android phones get a match on the apps department then i will move to android again.

that's also what work mates are telling me and also hwat i can read online. i tested out a mate's S2 and it was pretty slick not keen on the 4S because of a) high costs and b) still limited in what i can do gonna try out the S2 down the shop later Quote:
i've mostly used Apple prods as well but their strategic approach to what user can and cant do has really put me off. prefer an un-fenced garden

Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 is the best phone on the market no doubt I also have the previous generation Galaxy S.
The Galaxy s2 is so thin and light you will not believe it! Its screen is also wide enough to be useful and surfing TRF on it is a breeze. It is so good you can spend a whole afternoon in the toliet just surfing the net on it |

You are right and there are several negative points about Apple's strategy. Jailbreaking is part answer to this although many people lack the time and basic knowledge in order to un-fence and customize their iPhone.

If I were buying today and my network had it, I'd certainly look at the Samsung Galaxy 2. When I was buying a few months ago I chose the Android Incredible 2 and I love it. I much prefer it to the I Phone, which I could have gotten for the same price. I prefer the customizable factor of Droid type phones, and the Droid apps are plenty sufficient.
Basically I object to the Apple philosophy of dictating my experience. Weirdly, I don't have that problem with their computers. |

I have every phone listed in this thread and the iPhone is still the best in my book.
As far as the SonyEricsson Xperia Play listed earlier in the thread... I'd say a huge NO to that one.
