PAM 390 and its many faces...enjoy!

I think this may be the best Base model that Panerai has ever done...just stunning in its simplicity...with the brown dial, gold hands and excellent matching Assolumente strap. At its current list price...probably the best value ever for a SE Panerai.

Congrats on your 390........other than the gold hands, the Boutique Editions are the same price and the dial on those watches include the pig logo (rather than on the caseback...nobody can see it) and a sub dial. I'm not sure that this watch is such a great deal at the end of the day........nevertheless, a beautiful piece......enjoy

Let me say that you need to see the watch in person and then you would change your mind.

You say what is special?

1) First Base model in SS with brown dial
2) Simplest and cleanest dial layout of any modern Panerai (2 liner)
3) Only Luminor model with gold hands
4) SE box and presentation
5) Pig on back is a good thing..leaving the dial uncluttered
6) No special promotions/gimmicks on the watch (i.e. engraved casebacks, pigs on dial, tributes, etc)
7) It is special in its simplicity
7) You must see the watch in person...it is a stunner.

To each their own. I much prefer the 390 though.

Great pictures! Gold hands with stainless-steel dial is quite a special mix but it looks nice indeed.

Thanks for the photo's! I agree with many of your points.
I'm on a hopeless list somewherw as well, think i will pass me by..
Maybe some day...
Do you think it's an only everyday watch? I have to sell the 111 for it, if they ever call me...

Greetings Tom

I have been lurking here along time trying to decide which PAM to buy and I always, always look forward to your great pictures of your latest watch.

Now I do not want to touch a sensitive subject and please forgive me if I upset you but why were you banned from the P.com site. I truthfully cannot think of anything in your demeanor that could get you banned. In your posts anyway, it always seems you have a big smile on your face and hand willing put out to shake another member's hand no matter what the forum.

Well there are 2000 pieces...so you never know...you may get one after all.

I definitely think it is an everyday watch and while I love the 111, this is in another league..partially due to its SE status, but mainly to do with the simplicity of design. With the brown dial, aged luminova and gold hands it is even elegant in appearance...something most Panerai's are not noted for. It looks like a very classy watch.

Good luck on getting the call.

Me too buddy, but I am in no hurry to drop over 5K. When I get the call, I will buy it for sure so I can experience it first hand. It's a double edge sword, I don't need another watch and I sure as heck could use the money for better things, but it is a stunning watch and my wrist deserves it.

Congrats Tommy, enjoy that beauty.

The poster didn't say the 390 wasn't special, as a matter fact, he said it was a beautiful piece. He was merely comparing the price point of the 390 to the Boutique Editions.

The Boutique Editions do come with a SE oversized presentation box (gorgeous) and to say there are "no special promotions/gimmicks on the watch (i.e. engraved case backs, etc).".......well then, what do you call the engraved "pig" on the case back of the 390????? Simplicity can be overrated.........if one prefers a sub-dial for a seconds hand, the 390 then is too simple. Any person who likes the logo watches (000, 005, etc.) would more than love to have the "pig" on the dial rather than the case back.

I've seen both in person......they are both stunning watches but strictly speaking, from a dollar and cents standpoint, you get more watch with a Boutique Edition.........just my .02 and as someone else commented on "to each their own"
