Bumped my Crown !!

Just playing around in the shop today and bumped my crown..

What should I do ?

Is it time to flip ?? Should I go back to the Sub as a beater? Should I just leave my loupe in my pocket?

I think it's time to dump that wreck and get a new one.

Just because I'm a good guy, I'll give you a hundred for it so you don't have to see it anymore

This is where the Panerai crown guards come in to play

Plus this is supposed to be your beater so I would leave it.

Sorry to hear about that. I think I would leave it and just wait to have it serviced too. Its off to the side so you won't see it every time you look at your watch and you will probably get over it with some time. It seems like those crown guards were not able to protect that crown well enough, lol

It definitely gives your watch a lot of character.

I think its really cool how the crown lines up on your model too. I have never seen a watch in person where the crown actually lines up. Either that or your crown is not screwed in completely.

True, but then the guards get all scuffed up, and that doesn't look any better.

Don't sweat it at all...part of the day-to-day wear and tear of a watch. When the times come to send it in for service it will come back looking good as new. Enjoy!

IMO it's better like that! That there is what guitar players call "mojo"! Some people pay big bucks for guitars that look beat to heck.

I wonder if there's some market for 'relic'ed' watches?

Thats one of the nicest watches and that dent in the crown I would get a new crown asap. I think I would be ok with a pit on the side of the case but not the crown

first my condolences to you and your watch. i guess it is the virgin scratch.

the first scratch usually bugs you. after awhile, when the watch gets more 'character marks' u will feel less hurt.

however, if the scratch bothers you, sent it in for a service. personally, i feel that if one likes to keep the watch in mint condition, then keep it inside a box and don't wear it.

I got a horrible scratch on my new Exp-II bezel a few days ago....but now it's all behind me. Don't worry, the crown will be entirely replaced during service.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words during my time of trauma.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one to have such things occur, and there will be many good times to look forward to with this fine, although now damaged, timepiece.

Larry keep your Exp II as your beater.....it already has a dink now, so you can wear it without worry.....

Tom, I quote this from Oxford dictionary

Editted: for good.

chink / Ñ tSINk; NAmE Ñ / noun, verbŒ noun
1a narrow opening in sth, especially one that lets light through:a chink in the curtains
2chink of light a small area of light shining through a narrow opening
3[usually sing.] the light ringing sound that is made when glass objects or coins touch:the chink of glasses

Wandy. You can't possibly think that my use of that word in that context was racist?

If you do I sincerly apologize. I spent many years in Hawaii around Asians many of whom were Chinese. I know that that word used incorrectly is offensive. I meant nothing along those lines.

I think I'll put a "DIMPLE" on all my Rolex's crowns to add character to them.

No, no Tom don't get me wrong. Sometimes you guys use words that I don't get the real meaning and thus I need to look up to the dictionary in one or another ocassion. This time I didn't find the one that's correct according to the whole sentence.

Sorry for making you surprised. I get it now though.
