Sub Date at 10 % discount
Would 10 % discount on a Sub Date 16610 from an AD you have never dealt with before be a good deal?

Discount should be put in context of the MSRP,in any given country.I get a huge discount, but our MSRP is high.My final price equals about less 15% in the States.

10% on a model that popular is a good deal.

I would say yes, simply because the watch is so popular that most AD's will not discount. At least not around here.

I only got 11% on my YGDD at the same time a friend and his wife went with me and came home with a WG Daytona, black strap, meteorite face for him and a sswgbezel date for her. I tried beating the AD up more but no luck. They did throw in 3 winders @ $300 each, and gave us 3 extra years RSC warranty. This was 1-1/2 years ago.

The AD here is offering me one year 0% interest payments, so I can keep my $ in the bank earning interest instead of buying outright, hmmmmmm.

Yes It would definitely be a good deal. In the part of California where I live, whether its the Bay Area or Sacramento, I HAVE NOT been into a single AD where they do discounts on sports models. The best deal I heard was 10% off on a Datejust and thats ONLY if they notify Rolex first or if you're a previous costumer of that AD before. However, NOT a single cent below MSRP for the sports models.
Of course I haven't been to every single AD in the Northern California area but this is just my experience from the ADs Ive been to. Plus with the sales tax here the way it is, I would think its better off to buy out of state like in Oregon for those who live in California which I know is not your case Bo but I just wanted to get that out too. 10% off is good, I would go for it if I was considering a Sub Date.

I got a 25% discount on my LV($4390). He had 2 in the window. Must have been there for a while. I did not even know there was such a thing as a green sub. I even tried to barter! Not untill I got home did I realise how much of a discount I had gotten. This was in the Islands by the way. My local dealer here in the US refuses to take anything off. Not even for cash wich surprised me. Suffice to say that I will never buy anything there. This spring I am going back to the Islands to visit family, buy me a 116713 and hopefully get the same discount for paying cash as I got before with the LV.

My AD will do 7% with no sales tax on a SD or SS Sub. They used to do 10%, but they were flying off the shelf.

My latest deal on my TT GMT-master II, I got 7%, no sales taxes and 12 months same as cash. The other local dealer says no discounts on any model. I guess it all depends on the dealer.

It just goes to show that, if you are looking for a good deal from an AD, you can pretty much forget about the ones here in California. Apparently we can't catch a break here at all when it comes to negotiating the price. I went into an AD a couple months ago and tried on a TT Black Sub. I looked at the little sticker dangling off of it and it showed that it was a D series Sub. I asked if they could discount it but they wouldn't even do it, even if it was a 2005 model. A D series Sub still selling at $7825 baffled me Apparently, the ADs here don't care how old the watches are. If it was never purchased before, it sells at the sticker price.

It is a good deal without the discount. So with it it is even better.

Your strong NZ$ will make your prices look relatively expensive against US pricing, but should keep your prices the same for a while.Always interesting that the pricing does not come down, when the local currency strengthens ...
