Dial says Sub Mariner??? I don't think so

Movement is CAL 1030

Movement, case and dial have all been authenticated. Trying to figure out the dial with this watch.

The dial has been repainted and so whatever it says is meaningless ..

I don't think that a model 65801 exists..

Just my watchmaker. My question doesn't have anything to do with authenticity. Trying to figure out the model since I don't believe this face (which is authentic) goes with this watch

It could be a 6580 OP. Not sure about the one after the number.

The case is probably a 6580/1 Rolex Oyster Perpetual from the 50s which had a cal.1030 movement in it but that dial and hands are wrong. Have you looked at the underside of the dial for any markings?

It's a ref. 6538 big crown, late 1950's. The watch has a so called 'washed dial', the tritium is washed off the markers.

It's a highly collectible watch, in a next to perfect state it does around 50k and up. The dial needs a relume.

You sure it's not a 5508? Can you look in between the lugs again? Looks like a engine turned bezel from an Air-King or a date was added.

5508 have depth rating 100m/330ft. There's no bezel on this watch.

Wow thank you all so much for your feedback I forwarded the watch back to my watchmaker to remove the dial and movement so I can take pictures and re-post them. If one of the moderators would move this thread to the vintage section I would appreciate it. I have been buying and selling Rolex watches for 30 years and I have never run into this particular watch. I'm sure all the parts are genuine

I believe this is correct. It looks like an

early Sub ref. 6538 from 1957 with a 1030 caliber.

However, this does not explain why the never-heard-of model number or serial number on the case.

I believe the case and the movement is real.

Dial could be fake. It looks too new...

Could be this one with the lume washed away

They didn't...that's why I thought someone put on another bezel from a different watch. What's the 4 digit number on the inside of the caseback?
