Rolex DeepSea

I am considering purchasing this piece however, I own a GMTII in SS and recognize they are very similar. I am curious to hear what folks think about owning theses two pieces. Are they too similar to add the DSSD to my collection?

My situation is reverse. I have a DSSD and today the mailman will bring me the GMT IIC. They look similar from far away but there is nothing similar about them. Two different animals. Only thing they share is the reflectivity of light from the bezel. Go get your DSSD-- you will not regret it.
The GMTIIC is more wearable than the DSSD on a daily basis though.

I think it's perfect. One's a mans watch and one for your significant other.

well, they are both rolex sports watches with black dials and bezels, but, the similarities stop there.....if you like it, go for it.

IMO, the similarities between the DSSD and GMTII are few. However, I would strongly recommend trying the DSSD on before buying it. It is an enormous watch, which might sound appealing now, but it's size can turn some owners off over time.

The DSSD is a marvel of engineering, however the design and implementation falls short esthetically IMO.

I concur on both counts.

The DSSD is, apparently, not for everyone.

For me, that's just an added bonus that I was not aware of when I purchased mine.

It has replaced my TT blue Sub as a daily wearer.

DSSD is it's own animal. It's an awesome beast.

The Dssd is a very thick watch compared to your GMT.
While I had the big watch itch, I got a Deep blue Master 2k for a very reasonable price.

It's an awesome watch but I seldom wear it due to the weight and heft. This probably saved me upwards of 9k because in the end I chose a Sub C over the DSSD.

It's one thing to go to an AD and try on on for a minute but a whole other to wear it for a day or two and see if the time piece still pleases you.

Having said that the DSSD is a beautiful time piece imo.
Whats your wrist size?

They are "similar" but different enough to be enjoyed individually IMHO !
